Engine break-in?

I'm new here and just ordered a 2007 black SS/SC Cobalt. Dealership told me they should have it in by tuesday.

I don't know if this is the correct forum to be posting this at.

Anway I was just wondering what break-in procedures there are. Most sports car you have to keep it below 4k or so for the first 1000 miles then you can let it rip.

-thanks

for the first 500 miles take it easy....dont ever let it run full throttle for an extended period of time and after full throttle(mostly top of the rpm range)...let it properly cool down before turning off the car.....dont use the clutch to slow it down....thats the cause for a lot of clutch problems on here...and dont brake excessively as this will cause premature rotor wear.....dont keep the car at a constant speed for an extended period of time either.....how fast your car will be does depend largely on how well it is broken in....good luck

Congrats on your new Cobalt. As for breaking it in, give yourself 500 miles with only the odd burst of speed. My suggestion would be, first day drive from one end of the city and back enough times to break it in completely. Second day have fun.

Ya...what those guys said.

Just don't do any burnouts and make sure you run it up to the 6500 redline. The seals have to seat and it is best to show them the entire RPM range. Like Mike25 said though just don't hold any RPM for an extended time.

Thanks.

Oh and 1 more question. From what I've seen all the 2007 cobalts have the ipod jack on the front of the stero.

Now my question is, does the car come with the cable to connect my ipod to the stereo or do I have to go out and by it somewhere?

If its's a standard audio jack then I can just use any plug for computer speakers.

-thanks again

i believe it just an aux input so you can go to walmart and by a cord that has the male connection of say a set of headphones... they make a cord that has two male ends on it for like no more than 3 to 4 bucks..
