Bnr k04-gt28

Just wondered if anybody had heard anything else about the K04-GT28 that BNR was at work developing.

The idea was that he'd take an LNF k04, put the GT28 compressor and exhaust wheels on it, mounted to a beefier GT28 shaft, and then reuse the k04 center, compressor, and exhaust housings (machining them as necessary) for an OEM look and direct bolt-up compatibility.

Now that this forum is supposed to make it easier for new vendors to come, I wonder if he'd be able to become one and post up now (which he wasn't able to do before). He was removed from the Skyroadster forums for not being one too. That was the last place I had heard any development news, and it sounded promising.

Two people sent him a turbo for upgrades, im sure we'll hear back from them soon one way or the other.
If memory serves me right these are the options he had in mind, ranging from $1050 to $1350

1 - gt2860 with stock compressor housing
2 - gt2860 w/ larger compressor housing (10% more flow) + upgraded wastegate actuator
3 - gt2871 w/ larger compressor housing (10% more flow) + upgraded wastegate actuator

Actually he had 4 turbos he was doing from the email he sent me. I only live 1 hr away from him, but since he had the 4 I just decided to wait to see what happen.
Anyways the last time I saw the thread on the Saturn Sky forum that the turbo upgrade was originally posted has disappeared. So who knows whats going on now.

Here you go:
What happened to BNR racing post? - Saturn Sky Forums: Saturn Sky Forum

This is why I hate stupid vendor crap for forums now, they basically deleted this guy gauging interest on a possible LNF turbo upgrade because 4 people sent there turbo to him to have this done to. In the original thread he never offered a price to have it done, just some ideas of how much it might cost to do this conversion and people pm'd him to send there turbos to him to try.
So now all of the information and ideas thrown around for this new possible turbo upgrade that helps the LNF community has been removed because the admin felt they weren't getting any money out of it.
I'm so glad forums were created to make the creators money instead of helping the community they are suppose to support.

Yup, I remember reading about this and then finding the "what happened to the bnr guy' thread on skyforums. I hope it works out because this is right up my alley.

bnr does great stuff for the rx-7;s I had their stage 3 setup on my fd until I went single turbo.
Since I have 2 spare lnf turbo's laying around and was planning on swapping onto my car, I may just go this route.

I think some of you should email BNR racing to let him know your interested. It might help to get things moving if he knows there is a market outside of the Kappa platform.
In my opinion while most Cobalt owners are cheap asses, I see far more modding done by the Cobalt crowd for the LNF engine then the Kappa platform or the HHR SS (though we use the same stuff).

I have been talking with him ..
YouTube - BNR Stage 2 FC3S Turbo shaft play

This vid shows the great work and minimal shaft play or correct shaft play from a BNR turbo ... R7 guys have nothing bad to say about this stuff..

The rx-7 guys love the stuff and it looks like he could be a very reputable and promising outlet for us at least guys who want to do the direct bolt on. I can't WAIT a direct bolt on is just too damn great to fathom.

Trying to be a test mule ...

I hear you man, I just snatched up a extra LNF K04 turbo to take down to BNR to play with. I only live an hr away but it will be January before I can actually pay to have anything done.

Buying a new house plus Christmas equals broke **** till beginning of the year.
