Interesting...interesting. And I just happen to have a spare k04 lying around...I might have to look into this when it becomes available. Anybody have any clue about the cost?

You guys that are interested should send him an email asking to be put on his update/contact list. He responds pretty quick. He wants your name, number and e-mail so you can be kept in the loop.

I spoke to Bryan over the phone the other day about this upgrade. I don't have a SS/TC anymore(RIP Ron) But i will be taking a SS/TC turbo and throwing it in my 1.8T GLi. With an upgrade like this i should see 350-60 to the wheels as that is what guys are getting with a GT28RS. I can't wait for this!!! Soon I'l be able to start kicking some SS/TC ass .

GT28 is a hair bigger than the k04. Id expect it to make no more than it does on a cobalt ~330whp

The 1.8T is pretty much maxed out in mods for stock turbo, including rods. Its ready for a big turbo but I don't want a big turbo, all I would need to do is get a custom manifold, custom DP and coolant lines to use the LNF's turbo(wish I would have never sold my k04+ from btf). Just make a quick search for 1.8T and GT28's and you'll see that there dynoing around 350+. Either way, after that I'm selling the car for a SKY redline, I hate this POS i just keep myself busy for now.

Be optimistic. I don't have an SS/TC now(wish I did) but back when I bought mine in Aug 08, Synapes Turbo made a kit with a GT2871r that made 372whp I believe??? pychostevo had a guy make 384whp with his tuning. Yes those setups were not the best and laggy but the turbo can make that power. Come on, you should know that with a good custom tune you could make that or more, not 330whp. I'll get back into the LNF soon enough, just want RWD.

also .. the GT28RS is a 2860 turbo.. the 2871 (a meh turbo imo) and the 2876 ( the better brother) have better flow characteristics and do have the chance to hit over 360 whp but the GT28rs usually tops around 350-360

Your comparing what people are making with a slightly larger turbo than the k04 and think that your gonna pull it off with the small one. Thats like saying lnf's with a s256 are making 500whp but im going to do that with a s252 knowing that it wont support more than mid 400whp.

Now i dont know how having a smaller displacement engine will effect things. Id imagine it would make the same power as the lnf but maybe not die off at 5500rpm, maybe like 6000rpm instead.

Completely incorrect information.

The LNF turbos are made by Borg Warner. They are stamped Borg Warner and use Borg Warner components. Not crappy Mitsubishi.

I believe they are produced in Hungary.

I think the mitsu turbos was reported to be being put in the buick regal perhaps. The box of turbos was seen at a gm plant or something.

Lol, why yes they are Mitsubishi now. refer to thread:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...al-bpv-227219/

I started the thread to talk about the new LNF Mitsubishi turbo but it ended up being about the Forge BPV. Its all good though as long as the community gained something from it.

The new LNF turbos are Mitsubishi TD04L-19T's, with a redesigned metal BPV.

Your right and wrong, 08-10 LNF turbo is BW, 2011 LNF turbo is Mitsubishi and so you know Mitsubishi makes very effecient, long lasting turbos (read previous post). I bet you won't be seeing the Regal Turbo guys having failures with turbos like we are having with the stock K04. Plus the "crappy" Mitsubishi turbo is actually upgradeable and relatively cheap to do so.
