My 2871 should either be here today or tomorrow. I'm getting a p0017 code. I've replaced the exhaust cam sensor already and after doing a little bit of research, it looks like I might have to get retimed? I duno, I don't have the knowledge to do this so I think I'ma have to take it to GM to fix this one...might have to bite the bullet. Anyone know how much this might set me back?

Oh also, I'm waiting on some 3 bar tmaps and a new intercooler before I put mine on...

LOL How come it seems that everyone that has these turbos have some kind of underlying issue with their car that doesnt allow them to install or get a good tune

I just don't wanna pop my stock map sensors and I wanna wait until I get a new intercooler. I don't wanna get the car up on a lift...install the turbo...wait a couple weeks to pull the front bumper and do an intercooler. I wanna do it all at once

Congrats on the 2871 iBoost!

I just took my setup apart to install new gaskets and rechecked all the bolts and made sure to put it back on by torqueing everything down and in order. Hopefully this makes my underlying prob of partial throttle KR. I def should not have reused the exhaust to turbo mani gasket since its a crush gasket that Ive re-used twice now. That thing was fried and Im sure there was a small leak there. We will see what Nick has to say about the log I sent him but from the looks of it, that seemed to be the prob as I could see exhaust gasses soot all the way to the egdes of the gasket on two spots

Seems like all the surprises happen after installation

Yeah man. I dont know. The jury is still out on these upgrades. It seems to be hit and miss. I had a few issues all due to stupid little things like reusing gaskets and a boost leak and a bad EVAP lol
This is all finally fixed now and the car seems to be running much better than before at part throttle. WOT performance is great. I was supossed to dyno on Saturday but couldnt make it out. Im trying to set up a time maybe next Monday at a dyno I know is load bearing.

Yeah, thats the second EVAP Ive had to purchase. It didnt throw a code but I noticed my LTFTs were frozen at 0.0. Telltale sign that it was bad.

Do you know if the dyno you used was a load bearing dyno or not? I keep finding that the LNF has to be dynod on a load bearing dyno in order to load the engine properly to make it produce power. Otherwise it just does what it needs to to spin the rollers and whatever peak HP it took to do that is what you end up with, which is not accurate. Basically, this means that a load has to be applied on the rollers(like a brake) or the software has to make the approriate corrections to the numbers on a non-load bearing dyno.

Only thing I can think of is to make sure the WG is completely closed and that the nuts on the WG rod are secure before you bolt it on the car. When you get under there you will see what has to be done to take the turbo out. Make sure you replace the gasket that goes on the exhaust mani to turbo flange and maybe use s lil blue loctite when you bolt it back on to the exhaust mani so the nuts dont back out. Just make sure everything is nice and tight and buttened up and take your time.

Just do a google search for LNF torque specs. Specs are posted in some forums, highlight the text and copy/paste it into Word or something and print it for your records. CSS wont let us post links to other forums lol

Well guys. This upgrade seems to not be worth it
I just dynod on a DYNOCOM. Running the E blend and about 19* of WOT timing at 22psi I only made 305whp LOL
Im given to understand that the DYNOCOM is sorta like the mustang dyno and reads low. Even if that was true and you add the 15% or so its still only about 345whp which is not worth the $1000 pricetag of the 2860. Ive heard of similar experiences with this turbo and even the 2871 not making what it should. The TQ and power is held throughout the powerband unlike the k04 wich seems to peak and fall off. Still, dont know if that is worth the price. Needless to say, I am very dissapointed and bummed out. The car feels great on the street. It def doesnt feel like a 300whp car but thats what the dyno is saying. Oh well.
Comments, flames and suggestions welcomed LOL

Another buddy of mine with a tuned SS/TC at 22psi, 93, and only running bout 14* WOT timing made max 310whp by comparison. We dynod one right after the other. Same conditions, same dyno same temps.

do you have a before dyno from there?

also .. 22 psi and 305whp and 360 wtrq on a supposed low reading dyno isn't bad at all.. the 2680 was basically like the K04+ from the specs

I dont. The only other time I dynod there I wasnt able to get the chart. THey were supposed to e-mail it to me. Anyways, I put down 290whp on 93, 22psi, and only 13* of WOT timing.

Well that kinda sucks, I mean yeah you deff. did add some power but I don't know if it was worth a $1000, so I'm kinda with ya on that.

But hey I'm sure there's a little more room to play...

Moar BOOST!

What kind of numbers were you expecting?

What kind of gains were you expecting from the upgrade? So the only real upgrades over K04 would be a better powerband & higher efficient peak boost range? Thanks for testing and posting results though, very much appreciated. I was going to go this route, but I'm going to hold off now. This isn't a "flame" <--- whatever that is, just curious. Thanks
