Bnr k04-gt28
Yeah, Im sorry. I just thought that Id at least hit 330 and hold it there throught the powerband. Im on E. Running 93 would mean Id have to lower timing to avoid KR which in turn woul dmean a loss in HP. So if I dynod the 2860 on my car with 93 Id probably only dyno like 285 or some crap like that. Anyways......just not what I was expecting is all.
That's because they look like the graph's from a Excel Spreadsheet..

Hopefully soon. Im having some issues with my car that I can't figure out. So I'm taking it to GM to fix. Then I have to retune for the humidity here and I'll throw it on a dyno. Turbo swap, retune and dyno again. I want my car at 100% before and after before I post numbers

I just spoke with him, he said the Dynocom read right so this negates everything I said about 50whp added.
Then someone asked... do you have the numbers before the BNR
So I assumed before he put on the BNR he was 290 and ended up 305 which is 15% lower which ended up being a 345whp. Taking these statements I assumed it was about a 50whp gain.
But I was wrong so my comments aren't valid.
How did you spend $300.00 in mods for 90-100whp gains. I did something wrong then. My downpipe with spun cat was $280 alone. Trifecta was $350 so I'm already way above you and that's only supposed to get me what around 50whp . I dyno'd stock at 232whp and from what I understand is a catless downpipe adds 15whp and trifecta is around 40whp
Well guys. This upgrade seems to not be worth it
I just dynod on a DYNOCOM. Running the E blend and about 19* of WOT timing at 22psi I only made 305whp LOL
Im given to understand that the DYNOCOM is sorta like the mustang dyno and reads low. Even if that was true and you add the 15% or so its still only about 345whp which is not worth the $1000 pricetag of the 2860. Ive heard of similar experiences with this turbo and even the 2871 not making what it should. The TQ and power is held throughout the powerband unlike the k04 wich seems to peak and fall off. Still, dont know if that is worth the price. Needless to say, I am very dissapointed and bummed out. The car feels great on the street. It def doesnt feel like a 300whp car but thats what the dyno is saying. Oh well.
Comments, flames and suggestions welcomed LOL

I dont. (which I assumed he meant he doesn't have the dyno numbers) The only other time I dynod there I wasnt able to get the chart. THey were supposed to e-mail it to me. Anyways, I put down 290whp on 93, 22psi, and only 13* of WOT timing.
But I was wrong so my comments aren't valid.
I have spent 300.00 in mods for a 90-100WHP increase. Thats 3.00 a hp on a stock K04....
Also E85 BYT tune and AB mod dropped my ET from a 14.2@103MPH to a 12.94@112. sooooo thats 33.00 a MPH in the 1/4 and 230.00 per second dropped in the 1/4. Also another sedan here has the 2871 upgrade and ran the EXACT et as me with a 117 MPH trap. (He was also at 1K ft, and I race at 3200 ft at SIR.)
its just not worth it to me.

Look if you guys consider the increase in HP your getting worth the 1300 the 2871 costs and the 1000 the 2860 costs then by all means DO IT. I dont care one way or another. Its your money. I was just posting my numbers. Something only one other person has done. The 2871 was originally thought to put down at least 370. I mean, if a RWD solstice put down 320whp with their drivetrain losses on a 2860 then I though FOR SURE the cobalt would put down more. Not the case. Since I havent seen a 2871 dyno yet then I assume that the numbers werent really all that great. Even if it put down 350 I wouldnt consider the 2871 worth it because you can get damn close to that with the stock turbo.
Me personally, as I have stated before, was hoping to put down at least at the very minimum 330whp. Its not a coinsidence that two 2860s have put down exactly the same amount of power down on a dyno. Something is definitely not right with the 2860.
HHRSSouth-You even said yourself in this thread and others that you believe the 2860 to be 'choking'. And the comment about the 2871 not making what it should was exactly that. Your happy with your gain, yes, but its obviously not what you had hoped for I assume. DDMworks advertises the 2871 on the solstice to make 360+whp. Thats on a RWD drive chassis with RWD losses. Surely the LNF cobalt can put down more, or at least thats what we all thought....???
To adress Vahdyx's comment. When I dynod I was told that it was sorta like a mustang and it read low. After I posted that comment Term2 and some others corrected that thought by informing me that the dynocoms generally read 6% higher than the dynojet. So, my original assumption of adding 15% to the 305 that I put down, WAS WRONG. This is why you have to READ through everything before posting so you are up to date on whats been said. Oh and, YES I put down 290 on a 22psi tune on 93 octane on a dynojet. So, to put down 305 on this slightly bigger turbo at 22psi, E and more timing advance, is VERY dissapointing to me.
So, AGAIN, I stick with what I originally said. Do I consider the 2860 worth the cost? NO. Thats MY opinion. Am I happy with what I dyno'd? No but, I like the fact that my powerband is held to 7k and that I picked up quite a bit of midrange and it holds. Maybe, once we see numbers, we will find out if the 2871 is actually worth it or not.

a 14.2@103MPH at 3200 feet vs. a 12.9@112 at 3200ft = AT LEAST a 90-100WHP gain.
It doesn't matter how many mods you have on me, it doesn't mean you are faster
Its all in the tuning and the stability of the parts installed.See video below. The evo racing me has MANY MORE mods and AWD, and I still take the win.

Usually about 10WHP is gained per MPH you go up is proper ricer math
E85 BYT Tune + ZZP AB Mod = less than 300.00

Dunno if the BNR upgrades are worth it for the LNF platform to each his own for some people it might be, not me I will probably go a different route keeping my eye on the EFR turbo's ZZP are working on.
Didn't someone post up a 117 trap speed with a 2871? Can't remember I'm on my phone and maybe a little intoxicated lol but I thought so and if so then a 117 trap car should by ricer calculations be much faster then a 112 trap speed car.

I got the exact same ET (2.2 60 ft.) with a STOCK TURBO and just E85 tune and airbox mod @ 3200 Ft with CALC DA of 5600+ft. (In my sedan, on crappy hankook ventus V4's)
Also in my coupe I Trapped 116.4 with the E85 50/50 mix and stock turbo. (Also done at 3200 Ft.)
I am not going to say this turbo is worth it till I see a 120+ Trap with an 11 sec pass.
I am also pretty sure in my sedan I can trap close to that up at phoenix where the BNR 2871 car ran.
Then I hope they can break a 120 trap.... The synapse stage 3 ran 422WHP down here on 91 Oct.... And hardly any timing. You will only be able to run E85 on that though with either a mix or a dual feed rail.
I am running out of fuel on a stock turbo on E85, what do you think the 2871 will do?
ZZP has already done 400WHP and 500Ftlbs on the stock turbo.

Drewbroo, you got 100whp from a tune, E85 and airbox mod? That's nuts. I think I'd be closer to 100whp if I lived 2500 ft lower. Also with E85 I can add a few more whp correct, but unfortunately I would have too many starting issues because it's always below 40*F at night here and winter is worse.
But you're a smart one, I wouldn't have ever thought of doing so much for so little. I figured bolt ons and tune were the only way to increase large amounts of whp.
Kudos to you man.
So what are the benefits of the BNR2860? Is there any?

Can trap and trapping are 2 different things. I CAN trap 118-119 in my coupe, but I CANT get enough traction to get there

I didn't do it all myself, I was just a guinea pig for a BYT E85 tune, all credit goes to him for getting ***** deep into the HPT Tables. All I did was play with the tq management and redline settings, and drove.
Shhh Drew; Sedans are slow, E blending isn't worth it, modded airbox is garbage!!!11 YOU NEED HAHN!!!!111 and you just don't know what you're talking about.....
/sarcasm off
Highly disappointed with the performance being shown here... Hopefully the 2871 steps up to the plate.

Of course but the argument is, is it worth buying and im just saying dont go off of his runs because its not where it could be. I agree 100% with you but thats his dd still on stock clutch and motor he's doesnt want to push it hard as he can it still has some left in the tank

Yeah me too we gotta get him to the dyno but i think i finally experienced clutch slippage for the first time last night and i still have to get you and vince a log
I take it its slippage going into 3rd at about 3.5-4.5K rpms? I can ask vince to bring the boost on later in 3rd for you and it will save your clutch.
Ask Vince to smooth out power delivery. I'll PM you on some other easy fixes so that we aren't mucking up the thread any further.
