Buying a 09-10 SS TC

My best friend has a 09 Cobalt TC/ and i love the car i have to have it i was just wondering how do you tell if the car has LSD? do i have to take the person im doing road test with and do a romping burn out? lol or is there a code somewhere

In the trunk under the trunk mat
there's a sticker that has a bunch of codes on it.. "G85" means limited slip. If you get a '10, it will have LSD as it was standard for that year.

oh **** thanks guys! i appreciate it i did not know LSD was standard on the 2010. i thought the RPD unit was standard only. Thanks alot for helpin out!

Its not. In Canada it was standard for 2010 but not in the USA. The 2010's all had the rpd and sunroof. The only options were lsd and sport pedals. I don't think you could even get the highrise, that was a dealer installed option or you had to put it on yourself.

Also, a romping burnout will not tell if it has the LSD. These cars have equal halfshafts so if the wheels aren't turned, the car will still leave two tire marks when burning out. Looking under the trunk will be the easiest way to tell. Otherwise you can romp on it while taking a decently sharp turn. If the inside wheel just burns out, then no lsd, but if both tires break loose and the car just goes forward insead of turning, then there should be a lsd.
