So everything was going good with the disassembly of my stock intake, then I ran into the very last clamp in the back. I for the life of me tried every tool I owned to attempt to loosen that clamp but I just can't get to it... If anyone would be so kind in filling me in with any tips it would be much appreciated.

i used a stubby flat head (and gloves,my motor was still a tad bit hot) and then when i got a couple turns out of it,i used a socket with an extension and turned it by hand.

it was a bitch for me though! when i was loosening that hose clamp my dad stopped over and scared the **** out of me and i dropped my socket and couldnt find it for a couple minutes.

You might need to get whats called a stubby screwdriver. It did the same for me I was pissed it took me an hour to get the damn thing off. Or get a flexible extension for a socket and it might help. The stubby worked the best for me though.

 

Hahaha, thanks for the input guys. I'll give the stubby flat head a try I suppose, I just figured I wouldn't be able to fit that along with my fingers down there.. but i'll try anything at this point...

 

I think I used a ratcheting wrench.

 

yea,i had it loose and tried getting my fingies on it but i couldnt get close enough. thank lord for the stubby

 

flex sockets and wobble extnsions ftmfw. but for those who arent techs stubby will do.

 

I think I used a 1/4" drive air ratchet with a 5/16 (or 9/32.... it was quite a while ago so I forget exactly which size they used on that clamp but for some reason I think it was smaller than a "standard" 5/16 worm drive). A hand ratchet would work just as well though obviously. Even a stubby flat head might not quite fit in there unfortunately.... I know it sure as **** wouldn't in my case.

Only it was a version made by Stanley. Im not sure how GM managed to tighten it down with the direction it faces. Im pretty sure they did it on purpose to deter people from taking it apart, lol.
