You technically can't just dial it up with a boost controller yet, and I don't know if that will ever be possible. I would say HPT could do that, but don't quote me, I've only glanced at the program twice.
I am getting a promotion at work.... and I am WELL into a positive equity situation with the Cavy... this is becoming more and more of a possibility than I had ever put thought into.....
The Bosch ECU on the gxp/redline platform will go to limp mode if it detects boost has reached >=20psi for more than 3 seconds using the secondary map sensor (map2) located on the cold side intercooler pipe before the throttle body. Using an electronic tricker, I can limit the amount of voltage the ecu sees from the MAP2 sensor thus making the ECU think MAP2 is below 20psi. I run roughly 23psi now. This is the only electronic solution to run more boost right now other than cookie cutter tunes and hand-held programmers. I use Hptuners, and they have not cracked the boost or nanny controls of this ECU and don't plan on it in the near future. If you have hptuners, you should be able to get at the fueling tables, add a boost controller and this tricker, and turn it up with some extra fuel. Note stock peak boost varies from 14-17 psi. Max ECU boost is 20psi. I'm assuming GM will stick with the same parameters since they still rate the motor at 260 crank.
I'm from the Seattle area and I was in a dealership yesterday requesting ordering one. I went through 3 different and increasingly important people in the dealership and not one of them could order one. They simply said it's not available yet. They checked a few different systems and make 2 phone calls and nothing. They said they would try to order one for the lot for a demo and they could not even do that. I asked how a couple guys on this site SAID they ordered them and I could not and they said that ANYONE could place an "order"....but it would/could not be accepted officially until they become available to accept those orders form the GM side...not the dealership itself. Either way they will be released soon enough for the summer months. YIPPEE!
I was at a dealer in Tulsa, OK this past weekend and they had one sitting up by the doors. I asked them about it and they said they couldn't sell it yet. It was black, not the color I am looking for though.
they may not be taking since some people have ordered them and they wont even be built til at least next month. they have to catch up a little before they can offer more to the dealers i guess
Yeah since there have already been over 4500 orders and yearly production rate is 7000 yeah they need to catch up.
Time to start saving, I'm due for a trade-in soon anyways and the Evo is so ridiculously expensive up here it's just not worth it. I'm still kind of pissed with the dollar being essentially on-par that we have to pay $2000 over the US price but I suppose there's not a hell of a lot I can do about it.
actually im driving to ohio memorial day weekend id be happy to show it off when i get back.. cobalt Ss/Tc has the one i wanted though i looooove the imperial blue.. buuuut since this one just happened to be coming along i snagged it cause orders are abitch. and allt he dealers are ******* retarded and say its not in production or it will be july before they start rolling out. except for the dealer im going through..
