Clutch Slipping or No Traction
Clutch Slipping or No Traction
The other day when I was driving I had my car in second around 3000RPM and for fun decided to just punch it. Being tuned and having a couple mods anytime I do that I'm going to get crazy wheel spin through 2nd gear. On this day the roads were also wet as it has just rained and temperature was probably perfect for making max power. (Nice and cool out) As soon as I floored the gas pedal I got insane wheel spin but my RPM also bounched off the rev limiter instantly. I have never seen the RPMS shoot up that fast on any car ever. At the time I figured I broke the tires loose so easily that there probably seemed as if there was no load on the engine or something and thats why the RPMS shot up so fast, but after the fact I'm now wondering if perhaps my clutch slipped. I've never really thought I had clutch issues in the past and my car has only 35K Kms on it. And if the clutch was going to slip I'd think it would do it in a higher gear, not from a comfortable 2nd gear roll. Any input on this?
When my car was tuned it broke the tires loose in second from a roll dry, imagine it being wet and you get the picture.
Put car in 5th gear and punch it. If the rpms shoot up it the clutch, if not then your fine. I doubt its the clutch to be honest.

I also assumed it was just because it was wet, just wanted to hear some other input. I wasnt suprised that I got no traction I expected to have a ton of wheel spin. It was just insane how fast I went from 3000 RPM to redline, literally in the blink of an eye.
The road was wet. That's why your tires spun and the rpms climbed. I wouldn't imagine you or anybody would be able to slip the clutch in 2nd gear when you never experienced any clutch slip issues before.
