Exclamation Cobalt Steering Loss Investigation

I saw this on CamaroZ28, and did not see anything here when I searched, so figured this was important enough for a new post ! (funny because if this post Lookie )

Cobalt Steering Issue from CZ28

I have not had any problems so far other than an occasional lack of assist when started cold , but certainly something to keep an eye out for.

FYI

It has been all over for some time now; there's also videos on YouTube trying to get support for GM to take a serious look at this and recall it. This is worse than the stuck gas pedal Toyota has been dealing with. At least in that case you can slam it out of gear or hammer the brake and pray. No steering (usually it just cuts power steering and feels stiff), no control; that's some scary ****! Good to see someone's FINALLY looking into it.

My car has "morning sickness," but it's good other than that.

power steering is just an assisted steering device... not all cars used to have power/assisted steering. and its not hard to turn the steering wheel when your moving with lack of power steering. and its not like you lose control lol.

I really hope you are kidding. It is easy as hell to take a curve at 70mph. The faster you go the easier it is to maneuver with out power steering. Thats why its near impossible when you are at a stop.

Like mentioned earlier it is NOT a safety issue. Old cars dont have power steering.

Just buy a power steering motor from a dealer. Takes no more than 20 minutes to put in.
