I've been wanting an LNF for awhile. I found one 90 miles away that I like. It's a red 2009, 80k miles, black interior, appears all stock. The only things it does not have factory is the high-rise wing ( not a deal breaker, can always add on later ), and does not have the RPD gauge display ( also not a breaker as I over-read some problematic issues ). They want $9,450 for it. The miles seem just a bit high for my preference for getting a daily driver, but 80k isn't too high. I bought my Cavalier with 74k on it a few years ago.
Nada Guide reports $11,050 clean retail, $8,425 for clean trade. KBB reports in 'Very Good Condition' $9,530. Everything sounds spot on. As for trade, I have a black 2003 Cavalier LS Sport 5spd with 107k and i'm not sure if I would trade it or not. The book value is less than $3,900 and I would like to keep it for salt season and keep the SS clean. If not I might keep it and try to sell it for $3,500 and get low-balled to $3k.
As for deal breaker, I haven't seen the car in person yet so I don't know if it has the G85 or not. That will be my main deal breaker here.
The ad says it has 2 new tires, so I intend to have the alignment checked if I go look at it and want to buy it ( learned the hard way with my last car new tires means tire wear ).
Things I am concerned of are the porous block issue. With 80k miles it would have already been victim by now right? I studied the "High Mileage SS/TCs holding up thread" and it all comes down to preventive maintenance which is always hit or miss with used cars. So i'm not 100% on some bad issues to watch out for aside of the porous block. Some sticking rear caliper pistons and that seems about it.
As far as future mods, I wouldn't want to highly modify it. Maybe GM stage 1 kit, exhaust work ( catless DP, ZZP catback ). & an intake for sound mostly. Window tint, possibly darker tails and the evo style painted lip. I'm not one to fully build a car especially with as good as these cars are stock. That is the main reason I feel i'm done with my Cavalier. Throwing money into a phased out low value car to make it fast.

G85 is standard in that year, nothing to find out.
That's a sweet deal, that is what I would require for my Florida raised SS
One thing I will say is that the suspension requires a full rebuild around 100k miles; CAB's, sway bar links/bushings, shocks/struts, tie rod ends

That is what concerns me the deal seems very good. What could be hidden? Perhaps its just priced low from the economy status, with cheaper gas I assume larger engine car sales are now higher.
As far as suspension rebuild, that seems fine. I would probably put Eibach pro-kit springs and Koni struts in it, so I would be willing to update it and run it for a good long time. I put an Eibach rear sway bar in my Cavalier. Made it worlds better in handling. I know these cars are more solid stock but I would probably still upgrade such stuff.

With winter here I imagine the car may sit until late spring until some high school graduate gets it for a gift or someone buys it while folks are still looking for AWDs or trucks.
I definitely don't 'have' to buy it now, my Cavalier is ticking just fine on my daily commutes. But this is the best local deal with partially low mileage that I have found near by. As I said RPD and high rise aren't deal breakers, however it would perfect the car. I'm keeping my search going. I've found low 30k mileage cars for $14k, and some 120k mile cars for $8k, so that's why this one seems like a good deal.

The dealership that has it has some nice Corvettes and a couple Mercedes so I get the impression they don't take in garbage. We'll see though. If I do go for it I will attempt working on them with price.

I have a 10' got it with 53k miles 2 years ago its got 86k now. Replaced a few things. Front Breaks, MAF sensor and bpv. I've done normal stuff so far as far bolt ons and a trifecta 21psi. I'm still on the stock clutch and rear breaks as far as I know lol my car has been good to me. 30+ passes at the drags ran a 13.7 in 100°F+ weather last summer with trifecta 2.189 60' lol that was befor the zzp ic too but also racing any thing on the streets and it always hung in there. But anyways it hasn't let me down so I would hold out for a 10! Here soon im Gonna get on the maintenance it deserves lol

I've seen posts on a Porous Block thread stating a few 2009s had it, but it was for the most part resolved in the end of '09 and on the '10s. To be honest because of that issue that makes me feel more comfortable buying a higher mileage LNF.
I want this car bad, but I don't need to buy it. Patience in effect. We'll see what happens. I'll get the Vin # tomorrow when I call and set up a time to take a look at it. If everything checks out we'll see what happens! I really want to keep my LS Sport Cavy for a winter ride if possible.

Plastic hotside pipe is new intake tube and vent tube are new so it was probably bolted and tuned like most other tc's.
It doesnt have to be a deal breaker i would just do a more thorough inspection and make them take some $$$ off since it was proly modded
The other ones are way too expensive. Cobalts dont have a good reputation these days prices have dropped pretty good around here

I got the dealer to email me a car fax copy today and low & be hold it does have an accident reported but it does not state specifics about the accident. I'll be needing more into on this most certainly.

Should I just find the nearest GM dealer up in the area it is and have them check it out to their standards and just check the body and bolt-on areas myself?

Look at the stainless hose coming out of the intake pipe looks bright and shiny new along with the fitting that commonly breaks
