coupe vs sedan

ok so i have a s/c and i was looking into buying the t/c and i was looking to get the sedan one for convience purposes and i was wondering is there a big difference in performance between the two or are they pretty much the same cause the only thing i could find was that the sedan weighed like 50 something extra pounds...so i was wondering if anyone had any input. and i also was wondering if the sedan was able to come with the limited slip.

I have a TC sedan with the limited slip differential. The only comment is that I don't think it is as aerodynamic. But I am not sure about this. We have TC sedans making a killing on road tracks and SCCA events. Personally I love the Sedan because it has a higher roof and it makes it easier to do things with friends.

supposedly there are no performance differences in either handling or acceleration between the 2...I have a coupe, and it can be a pain having people get in and out of the back...although the seats back there are pretty comfy! If you have people in and out of your car all the time I would go sedan...and plus, who will expect a little cobalt sedan to wizz by them!?

also sedan were only made in 2009 and they are rare to find, if you find one for sure get it. I believe only 474 sedan SS exist. Im so happy I got one

Oh and I dont think the sedan has more wind drag... I think theyre the same. Just put it this way, a sedan SS will have way less wind drag than a Coupe SS with a high rise spoiler :P

The performance difference between the two cars is almost non-existent. The sedan weighs something like 50lb more, a difference which is probably offset even by variations in engine performance across different coupes.

Buy whatever body style suits you.

That's optional on the coupe anyway... 50% of TC's don't have it.

GO sedan! I went from an 06 coupe to an 09 sedan, and the 2 extra doors are a huge difference. MAKE sure it has the LSD! my buddy almost got one without, till he drove one with and what a difference.

If cosmetics arent your biggest interest I would say sedan but leg room for your rear passengers is kind of limited with a sedan also .. Compared to say a civic the civic has ass loads of leg room compared to a tc but besides that Motortrend found the SEDAN to have LESS aerodynamic drag but thats motor trend people who test cars for a week and then write reviews lol

Sedan owner- Love it NO problems with it yet 17K miles I think it seems like the people who build the sedans pay more attention to detail and less people have problems with em or maybe thats just because more have the coupe so who knows

It may be the low/high wing drag, but I've got a friend with a TC sedan with the speed limiter turned "off" that has insane top speed... we're talking past what the speedo reads kind of speed. It's just as fast as a coupe. We are literally neck and neck usually. As speed gets up there though, he will start leaving me. That being said, I wouldn't worry about any aerodynamic differences. He tends to get better gas mileage too.

Honestly, except for the RPD, you can get everything of the coupe in the sedan. There really aren't any drawbacks. After checking out my friend's one, I would highly recommend it if you're interested in it (and I've got a coupe). Plus, you get the sleeper look, so you can run when you want to and don't have to worry about rice getting on your nerves when you don't. Everybody hates to get beaten by a 4 door.

Where there's a will, there's a way. Honestly though, I don't think that looks all that bad on it. It's even made by GM.

I love my sedan, and I have never had any complaints about lack of rear leg room and almost all of my friends are over 6' tall. I am 5'11" and set farther back than most people my height so even with my seat back far they don't bitch. I wonder if the mags only consider leg room with the driver seat all the way back? IMO the driver seat track slides much further back than needed for the average driver. With the seat all the way back, yes there is NO leg room what so ever and I can barley touch the pedals. I traded in my 06 SC when we found out my wife was pregnant and it was a damn good choice for us. Not that it will add any value to price, but they are rare and you won't see many IF any on the street. If you want ultra rare cobalt status get the rally yellow sedan. There were only 15 made and most of those are still on dealer lots. One thing I don't like about the sedans(maybe because I have a black one) is the gray seat inserts. I would have much rather had black, but only 1 or 2 out of the fleet got that treatment along with 1 with red inserts. Ether way coupe or sedan you will be happy!
