Cracked Intercooler, couple of questions.

I cracked my stock intercooler (Suprise right) the dealership wanted 800$ parts and labor. I saw ZZP had this intercooler: ZZPerformance - LNF Front Mount Intercooler #ZZ-LNFFMIC would I need anything else to make it work? Plus I am completly stock would I need a tune to compensate for the bigger IC?

Thanks guys, I'm kinda happy its cracked gives me a reason to start throwing some money at the balt'

ZZP's will bolt up without extra parts.

You do NOT need a tune.

You may want to consider upgrading the IC pipes and couplers while you are down there though.

I still don't get how you guys are cracking the IC. My 2009 has no cracks...but I also don't drive it in the winter so maybe it saves it from something...not sure.

Thanks!! Exactly what I wanted to hear. As far as the IC cracking I think I hit some road trash that was kind of unavoidable so I cracked the plastic end tanks

If you don't pull the condensation bar off the stock intercooler, it will crack. If you pull it, it won't crack.

If you're getting the ZZP, make sure to get the increased clearance one.

Mine is 100% stock, so I still have the bar...no cracks.

If you never tag it against the ground, then yeah, but most people scrape it. A light scrape on it can result in cracked ends.

I needed an IC ASAP when mine blew and I couldn't wait a week+ for the shipment to arrive from another vendor. I just went to El Monte and picked up CXracing Intercooler kit for the LNF. Works great, no leaks barely any heatsoak from lots of runs.

Just cause you're in Socal I'm recommending them. If you have time, go with ZZP or Treadstone.

Lmao 800 parts and labour, what a rip off considering u can get a better one for 350 and takes all off an hour and a half to do it if uv never done it. So what's their ship rate 300 and hour?

My stock one is good to but it's sitting on a shelf lol

i'm assuming the increased clearance one means it's smaller...less cooling...?

It is plenty of cooling. There is such a thing as too big you know.

2008 here. Completely stock IC. No cracks. I've never even scraped it. The bottom is spotless as far as that goes. I'm just very, very careful. It also sees midwest winter action!

I agree with Northvibe. Might as well do pipes too! Those split open on occasion.

cracked intercooler.....no boost?

I recently bought a 2009 red cobalt ss sedan and when i bought the car it would not hit boost. soon as the boost gauge got to 0 it would just stay there. The dealership said a vacuum hose must have came undone, and since I bought it 4 hours away from home on a saturday they said to bring it to a dealership on monday to get it taken care of, free of charge. After further inspection by the dealership, the intercooler had been cracked, making it not boost...anybody else had an issue like that?

There were a few people on here that have cracked their intercoolers, but in your case I'd just take it back to the dealer and have them fix it.

ZZP made a IC that was not as low as their first one. So look into that as well. I have not yet, but maybe this summer.
