Crappy Roof Lining
Crappy Roof Lining
So, It has been about 2.5 months since I got this cobalt and have gone to the dealer with warranties about 4 times already... This car is a pretty big headache cause of how cheap it was made. Maybe cause I came from my GTI which had no problems at all I was kinda used to it and maybe expecting too much etc.. W/e enough ranting.
Does anyone have this problem where their roof lining is coming off? Its literally separating from the metal on the roof... I called Keyes chevy and they said It might not be under warranty... WTF?
Ill take a pic later on in the day and post it up..

oof.. havent heard of that happening yet. My cousin does auto upholstery and does a pretty damn good job of it to. But he's in miami Florida... take the car to an auto upholstery shop and see what they can do for you... maybe get your car decked out in suade interior.
I have done headliners before and they aren't as hard as you would think. Have thought about switching mine to suade but I would need more accents through out the car and I can't find black sunroof rubber.
@ OP : I have an adhesive stain on my roof near the sunroof thats been there from the lot and a nick in my steering wheel. Its a minor inconvenience but an eye sore I've learned to get used to. Like my check engine light... I would just fix it and enjoy the car without the defects.
How much would it take to get you do redo mine in black suede?

Try a different dealer maybe. When you get that thing HP tuned any imperfections on the interior will fade away from view... Mostly cuz you are panicking to correct torque steer and wheels spinning.
I'm with you lol. Never seen this happening to any car! The dealer said he's never seen that before either. I'll let you guys know how it goes tomorrow.
You can just reflash the computer. The dealer can see that you have flashed it but all you have to say is you disconnected the battery to clear a code. When they work on a car they clear the code and if it throws it again they work on it. Just say you cleared some codes to see if they come back. Its the same method they use.
This happened to my Chevy truck. The roof liner literally comes unglued from the fiberglass backing. My truck wasn't covered, either. You can order an entire headliner, or you can just do like I did: check the internet for upholstery shops in your area that sell the headliner material, remove the headliner, strip off the old, cut out the new to match the old, spray the backing with a ****-ton of 3M spray-adhesive, and reinstall it. I'm not gonna lie, it was a pain in the ass, but it was perfect when I was done. The part that surprised me was that the exact material was available in my hometown.

Thats wierd, I'll have to check my roof lining out when I get off work, Only interior issue I've had so far is the chrome garbage peeling on my passenger side door handle, and sunroof rattle. If they give you **** about it, take it to another dealer. In no way shape or form should that be peeling that early even if someone had been smoking in it before, unless they had Doofy putting it in at the plant or Cheech and Chong owned it before you.
I work for a Nissan dealership and you would be shocked at what smoking does to the foam backing of a head liner it's not the adhesive failing it's the foam breaking down thats causes the headliner to fail most of the time
I apologize for what's going on with your Cobalt. After reading this thread, I see that you should be taking your vehicle to the dealership today. I’m very curious to hear what they’ll have to say about the situation. Would you please keep us all updated on your progress there?

I'll have to agree with you on so many dealer visits, I'll be at 6 or 7 (lost count..lol) for my front suspension issue on Saturday. The performance to reliability ratio is all out of whack! (atleast in my case) This is by far the funnest car I have ever owned without a doubt but with the most headaches.

They fixed it in about 2 hours no problem. I went about a month ago to replace my sunroof and I'm guessing something has to do with that.
I dont think anyone has smoked in the car before me. It smelled really fresh when I bought it and its a 2010 so meh. Anyways they fixed it for now lol.
