What I can't believe, is those whining turbo-minivan owners are calling the Cobalt SS ugly?

You gotta be KIDDING me!
Is Dodge including crack in the gloveboxes of the Calibers???

I say put that fat, high-cg, wallowing over-steering minivan on a road course, and then come back and talk to me!
Get the groceries on your way over, too....'bout the only advantage it has

I may take heat for this, but...

I'm 41yo - I've been watching motorsports of ALL kinds for over 25 years.
Noone can ever convince me that it takes more skill to do a 1/4mi drag, than a roadcourse.
1/4 is timing, traction, and shifting, for under 15 seconds.
Roadcourses are timing, traction shifting up AND down HUNDREDS of times, braking, apex negotiating, passing, drafting, pit stops... the list goes on.... for HOURS. And I ain't talking NASCAR, with the spec-series garbage that it's become with this COTS trash - only way you can tell the car brands apart, is from the headlight/taillight stickers!

Don't get me wrong - I have respect for those that do the 1/4mi craft, and do it well...
But I have tons MORE respect for the road course drivers - especially going into the sports/endurance drivers.
I can tell you THIS much - I ain't got the ballz to get into one of them Top Fuel, or Funny Cars and jack the 1/4mi - that would scare the **** out of me! So they have my mad props just for shooting 'em down the pipe to begin with!

So, bottom line, doing a pull from 40, impresses me not, especially when there's a bunch of clowns doing that on streets, endangering innocent people that have nothing to do with your testosterone rage. That is immature, and proves nothing, except that you are a jackass that cares nothing about anyone, not even yourself.

Take it on a track, 1/4mi or roadcourse, AutoX, WHATEVER, but keep it off the streets - that **** is STUPID.

Guns Up!

Didn't watch the video, but direct injection gas fuel systems can run near that high @ max pressure.

Just for the record, before this drama took place with this video. I was already on this forums for a little while.

I took one of my close friends to buy a 09 SS/TC so I think they are great.

Now, with that out the way.

The video posted here is highly inaccurate.

I think everything would have been fine if runs were complete and not short burst that were uneven from the start. And adding in a true list of mods for all cars involed would have not gotten the negative responses.

I don't say this in defense of the Caliber SRT-4's that got beat because all here that love cars outside of the one that they are currently driving can easily find out that a Caliber SRT-4 has put down 380 +HP on STOCK turbo and block at the wheels. (AGP documented this)

I say let us all get alone.

Now, if there is any reasonable Cobalt SS/TC drivers with noting to prove and want to have fun.

We should have a meet in certain cities and enjoy our cars together.

If you are in Lexington Kentucy or St. Louis MO. I'm in either of these places often and we all can hook up.

Get some stock cars, some lightly modded and some modded to the max and run for fun.

Feel free to PM me or come to the Caliber SRT-4 board if your mature enough (we have our own fools to deal with and need no more) and we can hook up.

Maybe a 1/4 mile track and anything else will be talked about privately. Safety first.

bonestock under the hood.

No. 450 some PSI is NO WHERE NEAR even close to 2200 psi! Sure I may be way off base here and totaly wrong that it can't do it, but 450 <<<<<<<<<< 2200.

Also tuned or not tuned, DR's or no DR's, pro driver or not a Cobalt is NOT, I repeat NOT gonna "walk" a CTS V! They are bone stock mid to low 12 cars in a 1/4 mile! now that said sure a TC Balt could beat one, but its gonna take alot more then just a tune and some tires.

Well said!

I agree many of the races were not good. You could see he pulled on some of them. Many of them I think the other person may not have been totally ready because:

a) the cars weren't lined up even

b) His honking was a bit erratic and quick

So while the other driving is thinking they are going to creep up to get even all of a sudden a quick beep beep beep and he takes off.

I'm a bit away from St. Louis but I'd think about it.

Agreed!
Believe it. 600 psi at idle and up to 2200 psi at WOT. DI is like a Diesel except we have spark plugs and a lower compression ratio.

Here you go. Amazing what a little 2.0L with a K04 can do. I am not done yet better intercoler and some intake and exhaust cam tables changes and I think I can get another 10-15whp out of it.

I'm just saying if it starts to bother too many people or a mod.... a mod will be after you.

I think it's funny myself... especially in the other thread.

But as soooo many of you have said soooo many times roll racing doesn't count and its not a real race. (Not my words haters this is what CSS.nst has said)

Tune intake and exhaust still on the stock intercooler. 2900 lbs moves really well with nearly 340 whp. I made 307 whp STD. corrected with just a tune.

Ya think! I ALMOST got another one but I needed more room then the Cobalt offered thats why i got what I have now. Its fun, its freekin HUGE! But its fun

It seems most newer GM cars take mods VERY well. The Cobalts sure do and my G8 does too. Headers on my car are worth 45 RWHP, an OTR intake is worth another 30, a Corvette pully will give me 10. Hell for under 2grand there car are running flat to low 12's! And for a car that weighs about 1000 pounds MORE then the Cobalt thats not bad at all. And the magnacharger kit..... yeah thats FUN!

I almost got one. I wanted the GXP but I cannot afford a $43000 car so I got my $21000 Cobalt.

Is anyone going to point out the car driving around in the video has an RPD? Which is a telltale sign that it's an 09 TC...

Also, I'm ashamed of the one honk and then two honks go bullshit racing people do.

1...23GO! Is the kind of lame **** I pulled when I was 8 years old. Oh wait, that's how mature you'd have to be to race out on the streets...nevermind.

I think it was already known it was a SS/TC.... 08/09.... no big surprise.

BTW, I'm now a CSRT guy, and am still a GM guy at heart. But the CSRT4 isn't anything to take lightly.... there all making higher #'s then the LNF's at this moment. Not to say the LNF wont get up there, but for around 1K, your at around 360whp.... and thats without tuning....

I thought the SS Camaro was closer to 37K. Never go by base prices you will almost never find one like that on the lot.

Well base prices are for them... you can order it from the dealer at them prices, just you'd have to wait. But yea, dealers will carry the ones with a higher sticker.
