Disturbing News... Is this true of the 08 SS/TC?

I called a dealership today asking about the 08 cobalt ss and he told me GM completely stopped making the 08 cobalts... He said they stopped the production and they are not releasing ANY 08 cobalts to ANYONE.... He said they are just going to piece them and make them into base Cobalts.... He said they are just going to come out with the 09 cobalt ss/tc and not the 08?.....

Fact or Fiction?

i know they did get slowed down due to a strike they weren't producing brakes and axels, and its kinda hard to have a performace car with brakes and axels

wow part them out to become base models? are you god damn kidding me? go kick the guy in the nuts for me. that would be a crappy business move on gms part. and it would cost lots of money in man hours. if its true start saying goodbye to chevy as they may be going under.

OK let me put an end to this thread quick, THIS IS FALSE. They produced mine last week number 2698 of i do believe 4500 initial orders taken for the 2008 Cobalt SS/TC, MINE IS MADE AND HAS BEEN SHIPPED along with thousands others and another one my dealer ordered, GM has never done this with a full production vehicle. I talk to a guy who works at the lordstown ohio plant who has made thousands of them and even made mine, they are making them people. Why do you trust dealers who didn't even know this thing existed, there are dealers who have no idea what the hell is going on, and that is why they are going out of business. So end the thread.

total garbage.

sounds like your idiot dealer is confusing the AAM strike with the lords town plant slow down.

the axle company thats on strike rite now (AAM=American axle manufacturing)is AAM, they do all the GMT equipment as well as several other GM platforms (the new AWD sabb system, ect) they dont have a stake in cobalt production, they do not make the half shafts and they arnt recognized by brembo to produce the brake calipers.

the car has been released on an EO (months ago) PV validated and supplier contracts have been signed (once again, months ago) its most definitively in production.

SORP was mid-April.

i smell dealer fool.

I HEAVILY doubt this is true since people have theirs on order/shipped already, but should make for a good thread nonetheless...

Surprise surprise...I had asked the sales manager at one of my local dealerships about arrival time for the new Turbo Cobalts, and he said that we would know before the dealerships would. He said that info comes out over the net before the dealerships even get it...

Not true, my cobalt kept breaking axles, so it obviously didn't want to have them.

Exactly....... DEALERS DON'T KNOW ****! Sure, they know more abotu car production than EARL down at Autozone, but salesman usually don't know JACK SQUAT unless they are really passionate about the cars.
