do they make the gmpp clutch anymore?
hey there.
so my clutch is begining to slip and i know im gonna need a new one eventually. the previous owner of the car said he installed a gmpp clutch on it and it has been great so far. im looking to buy another but cant seem to find it anywhere. all i see is lsj stuff and not lnf. he also said i have a 4.05 trans from zzp so im not sure if the type of clutch i gotta buy is supposed to fit that specific trans or the stock one. any links would be greatly appreciated!
im also not against getting a different clutch thats easier to find if i have to. i just love that the gmpp is dirt cheap compared to the others and has been great to me. my plan is going with a ko4r and meth next.
would it be better to get a different clutch for the added power or will a gmpp handle whatever ill get from my new setup?
if the gmpp isnt enough, whats a good recommended clutch thats easy to street and not so much an on off switch?

I put in the GMPP clutch a little over 20K miles ago. Not sure it will handle a K04R +meth. After break in I was able to ramp in up to 24psi by 3000 rpm in 3rd gear and 3500 rpm in 4th gear and not really overpower the clutch if I brought it in smooth by that rpm. But about 3-4K miles ago I had to soften the boost ramp in and have tuned to bring in 3rd gear full boost by 4K rpm and 4th/5th gear boost (all 24psi) by 4500 rpm to keep it from sometimes slipping in cooler weather.
I also reduced the aggressiveness of my spool PID tables for a little more mellow transitional boost when going WOT to keep that from sometimes slipping.
I am only a few bolt-ons with stock turbo and tuned on 93 octane. But runs strong.
So with what you are shooting for, will it hold the power, yes. But you will have to keep peak torque from being too high too early or it will over power the clutch.
But maybe that is just going to keep the trans safer so you don't break something inside of that.

depends what your goals are? i run e85 on the GMPP with full bolt ons and a 22psi tune. The GMPP clutch has been in my car now for 4 years or so. its held great and has taken some abuse esp being on e85 during spring/summer/fall here lol

my immediate goal is ko4r + meth and eventually a 6758 or 7163. ill probably run the ko4r for awhile though so if the gmpp can handle that ill stick with it. im at 385 tq right now so im not even sure if its slipping because its going bad of if its to much tq. it wasnt slipping before so im gonna guess its just time to replace it.

not bad. i cant see a ko4r and meth being too much different than your setup. i dont really drag race so i think i may be fine with another gmpp but not entirely sure.

thanks alot for the replies. i think i should be good with another gmpp. its held up great so far with my current power. i dont really launch the car or hit wot full boost under 3k and stuff like that.
so, the gmpp was never actually made for the lnf? am i safe to buy an lsj one then? what about my trans? does the type of trans and gearing affect what clutch i need to get? how can i know exactly what trans i have and stuff? previous owner says he put in an old zzp trans thats not available anymore so im guessing its the 4.05

The best thing you can do is to ensure that when you do the clutch, you replace all of the hydraulics as well. Either a stock LNF clutch or a GMPP clutch will do you just fine, so long as you/your tuner are competent enough to not have boost come in like a sledgehammer. My Dad has an 09 coupe with a K04R on ethanol and a factory LNF clutch that I tuned. He beats the **** out of that car and the clutch doesn't slip with 25-26lbs/20* of timing.
good luck man!

If it makes you feel any better, my stock clutch took the abuse of a K04R that I was pushing decently hard and then again with my WR-3(6758 EFR). I'm honestly considering removing my Frankenstein KY clutch for a GMPP.

Sorry to raise this thread from the grave but does anyone happen to have the best contact number for CED? I ordered the GMPP kit its been about a week ago and I havent gotten any conformation as far as shipping. Thanks in advance..

i use it in my 2010 with full bolt ons and tuned. it slipped when it was cold but my tourqe spike was pretty mean. new tune is turned down a bit. the e47 tune will be more agressive then the 93 so im curious to see if it kills it. if so i will buy another gmpp.
