Dynoed the G/F's 08 Cobalt SS/TC
First off this is my first post on this forum, I really like the way you guys work things over here and there is ALOT of great information here. Well I was working a local dyno day yesterday and decided to throw my G/F's stock SS/TC on the dyno to see what it would put down. I must say we were all impressed, especially on the last pull when we chilled the intercooler with some nitrous. I think an IC spray bar would be a nice cheap touch considering I have a few spare bottles. I can't wait to get a tune in this thing for her!

Thanks guys. Her car dynoed more than a few 5.0 stangs! It was funny watching all the guys get amped over a girls 4 banger. These cars are VERY impressive and I am very glad we decided to go this route, not to mention we got it for 19k with my GM Employee discount. I look forward to putting a few simple mods on the car in the near future. I just hope it doesn't punk my cammed Z28, lol.

it is a great pull but on the stock ECU it will limit you to 260tq after a couple of uses after it "learns." and this is a normal gain for the spray bar due to the colder, denser air charge w/ more oxygen by volume...it is also leaning it out a little bit. i have seen it many times on SRT's. i would love to see a tune and a spray bar!

In my opinion, N2O should be injected into the engine directly, not sprayed around it. Most of the gains seen from intercooler sprayers are from N2O getting into the intake not from the cooling effects. If you just go ahead and hit it with a small shot right off the bat, you still get the cooling effect along with an easy to control (limit) power gain.
Also, this car comes with a high resolution O2 sensor. A wide band isn't really needed as long as you have a way to pull info off the OBD2 port.

I have to disagree with the IC spray bar not being efficient. The wide band also would have told us if the A/F would have changed due to any getting into the engine, there is no need for me to put one in her car for daily use. I am reffering to the Dynojet wideband that is hooked up during your pull.

I have seen back to back dynos where the only thing change was the bottle for the spray bar, CO2 for N2O, and the runs with N2O were considerably higher. CO2 should show gains in most cases but the gains are low in most cases as well, especially in low power applications like ours.

I'd also second the motion that most of the power gain on the third pull was from the nitrous getting ingested through the intake tract (which pulls it's air pretty close to that area). One the dyno with my car, as the intercooler started to heat soak it just raised the boost to compensate. Torque-based engine management isn't all bad. Your torque seems a touch low on the first pull but otherwise pretty close to what my car did bone stock. My best whp pull was a 248/248 and best torque on a 241/256 with a similar power curve.

From reading his post I assume that he just held a bottle near the intercooler and cracked it open during the run. If that is the case that is a lot of N2O being sprayed around the area of the intake. I am not sure if I would call it a "lil spray" but I assume that only a little (around a standard 30-35 shot) made it into the intake track.

Yeah we let out too early on the first pull thats why the numbers were a little low. I have a feeling the numbers would have been highest on the first one if we would have taken it all the way up.
