Just wondering is the SS/TC Oil Life Meter, the same programming as the rest of the cobalt line or is't reprogrammed for synthetic oil?
for Canadian Owners can you change the display to show psi, instead of kpa for the tire pressure monitor?
Do the buttons on the steering wheel light up?
are you happy with the sound quailty of the stock stereo system? if not what's it lacking?
for people that purchased the RPD are you happy with it?
That's all for now
Thanks
John

-For the kPa to PSI switch, I heard there is indeed a way... but don't quote me on that.
-The buttons on the steering wheel do not light up.
-I'm more than happy with the stock sound system... It provides enough bass for any normal person thanks to the 10" sub in the trunk, has solid midrange, and sounds clear. The only better OEM sound system I've heard was in a CAD$175,000 Lexus LS600h.
-I don't think us Canadians can get the RPD, but this may have changed recently.
My steering wheel buttons light up when the headlights are on. The stereo system is better than what was stock in my GTO, but I still think it's a little weak on the bass. The stock sub and stock amp could be a little beefier. I love the RPD, but don't think many get installed on the cars going to Canada.
You can change the units to metric through the DIC. I'm not sure if your car has to be off or just stopped, but then hit the info and arrow button and you can get into the options in the DIC. Its all in the manual.
And I think the stock sound system is decent for a stock vehicle, not amazing, but not bad either.

The buttons are not bright, but they definitely light up if the headlights are on (at least on my 2009 model). I was driving my car last night and tried to make them brighter, but they were already at max brightness on the dash dimmer switch.
let's see...
The interior lighting in general is a nice soft glow at night...nothing to harsh... the only 'light' would be the 'on' indication for your cruise control...
My husband is seriously into sound systems and it is nothing for him to drop 1k or more on 'upgrades' .... his opinion is that the system in the car is extremely good for a stock system. In fact compared to other stock sound systems this sound system is the best he has ever heard (with the exception of the Lexus Mark Levinson 7k option). If you want to make any significant difference you will need to invest probably 1k and start with the sub.
I personally was unable to get a RPD in my 08, the information they provide is nice and I certainly wouldn't mind having one, but I don't like the size of them. The normal boost gauge is nice and streamline in the car and seems to flow a little better. However, with that said I plan on getting an aftermarket 'rpd' when I finish my mods (Dash DAQ prob) in order to improve my driving capabilities. The good thing about an aftermarket system is that you can easily remove it when you want....the bad thing is having the wire going to your OBD2 in the way. Basically what I am saying is that if you want something to improve your driving (keep in mind the rpd will not log your runs as far as i know) and can get your hands on one then go for it...otherwise don't sweat it. There are much better aftermarket rpds out there (that data log) and they cost around 500-600....
Hope this helps...

The sterio system is nice the only thing i would change is the sub maybe the tweeters but the sub is just to soft for me. i spent over 5000 on my last car and even thoe i still have all the equipment im not going to install it. The sub would be the first thing to change but i probably would do a 10 W7 in a sealed box nothing huge but just enough to feel and the tweeters i feel they give up a little, so i mite throw my polk SRs in but they need an amp but it could also be due to the radio but im very picky and most peple wouldnt even notice the stuff im saying. it is and awesome stereo the first i have contemplated not changing at all.

I'm hoping it's not a generic settings for Imperial and Metric.

What sucks about the boost gauge, is it's in kpa
.... looks stupid.I'm hoping I can change that in the RPD also.....

I didn't spend $5000, I spent maybe for everything... $600-$700
...and it sounds good, when I went for a test drive. I forgot to bring a mix CD
But from the "sounds" of it, I should be happy with the stereo. I will probably be listing, to the spooling, to even care about music :P
this is the first car where i listen to the engine spooling and awesome exhaust note even thoe its like 20 degrees out ill still role down the window to listen to the car and thats really one of my main reasons why i decided not to install my system, i cant wait to do an intake and muffler delete.
The car grows on you so much from just a test drive you wont be disappointed, the only thing i hated was i bought mine in the end of October got to experience the car in some decent weather and i used to love the cold but the contis are not the best in the cold i do spin them in second full throttle compare to when i first bought the car they would stick full throttle in first.

But I'm assuming, in the summer time these things perform very well, will def get winters next year. Since I will be placing my order within the next few weeks. I will most likley get it for the starting of summer 10-12 weeks.

I'm so glad I didn't go the Civic Si route.
I test drove it, but it did not give me the same feeling I had in the cobalt. It felt like my car, 96 Civic but faster & better handling..
The Cobalt, everything feels better....
+ I have read about alot of problems with the civic. Lots of owners are not so happy.
Rev Hang, 3rd Gear Popping Out, Rattles, Horrible Paint etc...
I have read a few problems about the cobalt, but very stupid & easy to solve "charge piping"

I've got my phone synched, so when I start the car my phone vibrates to let me know it found the signal... I just hit "OK" on my phone.
From there, you can hold the call button on the steering wheel to go into phone mode (if no phone is synched it goes to the OnStar telephone). From here you can either speak the number, which it registers quite well, or set up contacts to dial by name.
The only issue I've had was some static in the calls if I left the phone in the cupholders... It seems to interfere with the signal having it that close to the car's receiver. I tend to leave it in my pocket on the door side, then there's no issue.
It won't grab the contacts out of your phone, but you can set it up to dial by name. I haven't delved too deep into the Bluetooth in my car, but here's what mine does:

Setting up Contacts by name, is done via the phone or car?
Via the car. You say the name out loud and then link a phone number to it... So when you want to call, you'd...
1. Hold the "Phone" button on the wheel
2. Say "Call"
3. Say the name when prompted
The phone then dials.
Otherwise you say "dial" instead of call and then say the number.

for Canadian Owners can you change the display to show psi, instead of kpa for the tire pressure monitor?
Yes, you can change it from kPa to PSI. You have to turn your ignition on and hold the enter and info buttons for a few seconds and release. Cycle through and you will find a menu to change it from metric to imperial. The only problem is that it changes everything from metric to imperial, including tempertature and I believe your trip meters too.
