Front 02 Sensor Replacement

Does anybody have any tips/how-to do this? I have the part from GMPARTSDIRECT

I located the sensor, but you can only access it from the top truthfully. I need to replace it because my MPG have gone to **** recently! Any input I appreciate.

You can get to it from above with an 02 socket, I did.

Just use a 22mm open end wrench, easy peasy.

I removed/installed from the top also. My car was up on ramps also when I did it, should be 10 times easier on the ground.

Also make sure to put some anti-sieze on your O2 sensor threads if there is none on there (a new O2 sensor should come with some on the threads already), makes it easier for the next time you have to replace.

Yeah, I did mine from the top too. Used O2 socket on an extension and U-Joint.

Does anyone have some pic's or how-to on this? I'll probably do this as a precautionary measure soon.

Just replaced mine. Easiest way i found was up top there are two coolant lines in the way but remove the right coolant line to free up some space not much coolant will leak out so there will be no issues. unplug the sensor on the side of the valve cover and use a 02 sensor socket to break it lose. you should be able to hand loosen it to take it off by then. make sure the new one has anti sieze on the threads, intall it then plug the sensor back in, then replace the coolant line. you wont need to replace any coolant there should be plenty in your tank. You dont have to remove the coolant line but makes it a much easier job then wiggling behiind it and squeezing between the ac line.

Ya tried tonight, and broke a U-joint. Time to buy some WD-40 because GM doesn't like to apply lubricant O2 sensors or our slide pins...

Got the Wd40 today and it worked. Once you figure out how to maneuver the socket onto the sensor intakes no time at all!

I just did this today as i've had the sensor laying around for a few weeks. I did mine from underneath while I was changing the oil. The hardest part was finding it. I used my 1/2in drive o2 socket with a swivel and two 6" extensions.
