GMPP Clutch and LUK Flywheel Install Question
GMPP Clutch and LUK Flywheel Install Question
Installing an GMPP clutch and Luk flywheel in a 2009 Cobalt LNF. Have everything ready for reinstall, but did the throwout bearing to pressure plate fingers measurement for the air gap and have .300" air gap. The proper air gap is .150" to .200". The smallest throwout bearing spacer for sale is .200", which would bring mine down to a too small airgap of .100". Do you guys think installing with the air gap at .300" would be okay?? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I seem to recall that the LNF-Cobalt TOB had explicit instructions to NOT be bench tested...
I have done a TOB R&R, and it worked out fine - so I can't offer any suggestion there...

You should be fine to install a GMPP clutch LUK flywheel as is with no spacer. Its just when you get into aftermarket type clutch and flywheels where the gap can become an issue. Being those are OE style parts just send it. Throw 4 or 5 bolts in the trans and bleed the TOB first thing. If you get a bad one which does happen now is the time to find out, not after everything else is put back together. Use gravity or vacuum to bleed. I've used a one man bleeder bottle out of an iced tea bottle like what you can find on youtube with great success as well as vacuum bleeders but whatever you do avoid pumping the clutch pedal in rapid succession, that can over pressurize the TOB as the fluid can not evacuate quickly enough and blow them out. I learned that the hard way once.
