The cam and ignition timing took some time on the dyno to play with. About 5 hours in total for me. But yeah, it's a 28 second flash and bada-bing MAGIC. The LNF is easier to fine tune than most motors, but has really picky airload limits in the tuning that have to be tested and retested.

I figure, stage 1=intake/exhaust/tune, stage 2=charge piping, bigger innercooler, bigger turbo, stage 3=.............well, damn, stage 3= lets go spank some exotics

you guys have to realize this is gm, stage one is likely going to be a small increase in power, most likely a conservative/safe tune, a stage 2 would be some kind of pcm reconfiguration of some kind and maybe some kind of mechanical upgrade or in the case of this car already being so powerful maybe stage 2 is an off road kit or some kind.

i doubt GM would be stupid enough to only do 2 stages for the ss/tc after doing 3 stages for the ss/sc. The stage 3 kit was the off-road kit and i expect that to be the same for the ss/tc, again GM would be retarded not to. Stage 1 on the ss/sc was only a tune/injectors because u could add the intake and exhaust seperate and it would add power without needing a tune...........intake/exhaust on the ss/tc isn't gunna do very much at all without a tune.

stage 1 on the sc was injectors and and tune because it required less work than removing the pulley and adding a new belt, it required more work, gm backed the aem intake for the ss/sc and release a borla made gm exhaust. These are mods in addition to and don't require a tune to use so they don't need to be considered a stage kit. Stage kits from other companies typically add more, or different parts because, it is their kit not gm's. As a result I still think gm will keep it simple and will not consider intake and exhaust as part of a kit, they would make more money selling them seperately

if GM comes out with an intake/exhaust for the ss/tc they would be rather useless without a tune........from everything i've been reading any mod you add to the LNF requires a re-tune to get actual gains from it, otherwise it may as well be an appearance mod........so if anyone is stupid enough to buy an intake/exhaust for the ss/tc(LNF) without a tune to go with it then **** i guess GM better make 1000's of them for all the retards to want intake/exhaust with no gains

You will pick up power with intake and exhaust on these cars. It's never much, as with most cars. I think a fenderwell intake would be a good option, but the only downside is that changing the airfilter every 15,000 miles becomes a little more difficult. As long as you are not changing the Inner diameter at the MAF sensor then you don't need a retune. And since when did a catback really add any significant power to an ecotec? You pay like $200/hp on a catback system. And about $20/hp on an intake.

If u want a staged kit for the Cobalt , your gonna have to use the 290 hp kit for the Kappa's and forego the warranty . Cobalt specific staged kits for the LNF just arent gonna happen guys .

If you want a tune and want to keep your warranty just opt for an additional ECM when getting your tune and have it put on a different ECM. That way you can switch between. ;-)

Yeah but at the same time, how many people actually bought stage 1? I would guess that it's only a small percentage of those who bought stage 2. Maybe they decided to make stage 1 a little more substantial, and stage 2 more or less the turbo equivalent of the LSJ stage 3. Just a thought.

If you all are still thinking that there is some warranty fairy that comes around and fixes your junk, then you are getting your hopes up. Unless you have your mom take the car in and say it's acting up they are more than likely to question you to no end when having major repairs. You will swear they were telling you that you were infected with AIDs and that you needed to tell them right then and there the names and phone numbers of every person you slept with.

The manufacturers know the real legality behind the Magnuson Moss Act, and know what won't hold up on your end in court. They also can tell you NO, even if they could tell you yes.

If you really want to have fun while you own your car, then don't stick to the warranty. They will still fix all the other stuff that goes wrong with your car, but they don't cover the wear and tear stuff. And if a stock part fails under the use of your performance driving do you really want a stock part put back on again?

I drive what I want to drive, and mod what I can reasonably mod.

See, IMO that is bullshit, trying to cheat the OEM because you don't want to pay to play.

Although I agree with your views on warranty claims, I saw no mention in my post regarding warranty? Is it mandatory that a manufacturer only offer performance upgrade kits that fall under the vehicle's initial warranty? Stage 3 falls in this category correct?

They are still paying the, $286.40 for the ECM, plus all of the cost to add the operating system to it which is another $115. But you're right. People should be responsible when something is clearly their own fault.

is why I picked 280 I don't have faith in gm producing a huge increase for their kit just for safety and reliability issues.

the typical stock ss/sc dyno was actually closer to 220hp with about 200tq so the increase saw about 10-30 hp increase in reality not 40.

still wouldn't be right, the ss/sc's were underrated from the start with an average closer to the 220 mark on a dyno that puts the ss/sc closer to 230-240hp 'crank' stock, if I remember later that year there were new standards released for hp ratings from manufacturers that kept car makers from overrating their cars, the rx-8 had a lot to do with this if I am not mistaken.
