I know folks on here have said that at 500 miles and around 1000 miles my cobalt will "open up" a bit more...would you think it would be worth it to install the kit before I hit 1000 miles? I just made the 440 miles mark today (bought the car last Friday)...will I still see the performance gains immediately or will I have to wait for the entire break-in period?

It will depend on whether or not your car had anything "learned out" in the production calibration. If you did it takes the car a some miles to "learn" it back in since the learn down function is turned off on the kits. You can by pass the slow learn back in by doing a battery disconnect for 30 seconds. That resets the learning in ECM.

Yea you will see the performance gains, but your car will still break in all on it's own. I would get the upgrade, but at the same time I wouldn't take it hard till after the 1st oil change. That way you can get any shavings or anything that may have came from the brand new engine out of there.

Got mine installed today I put the sensors in last night.

All I can say is wow I have to disable traction control to go WOT there is so much more power in every gear, but 1st because nothing was changed in first.

everyone who gets it installed will be happy with the added power

also say hello to more wins from a 45 for sure wow it pulls so much harder now

OH and the bottom sensor is a PITA without a jack

Jack STANDS! Take the IC to manifold pipe completely off. MUCH easier. Uncover the wire bundles far enough back to get access to the wires on the top (manifold) sensor. If you're using aftermarket boost pipes make sure you have as much clearance around the connector as you can get and make sure you TIGHTEN the clamps and REtighten them after a while. That bottom pipe can shift over time if the clamps aren't tight enough and chafe the wires if you have the sensor mounted with the connector mounted toward the rear which on MY car seemed to give the best clearance initially. As I stated, the pipe must have shifted during the trip to the dealer for the cal install. Or maybe that was just MY problem. BUMMER!!!

CED = Crate Engine Depot. Hard parts $550 + dealer cost for the calibration install, if you're doing the parts install your self. Or more if the dealer is doing the hard parts also. The cal. HAS to be done by the dealer. PERIOD!

Who is doing the install for $98.00? Or are you installing the sensors yourself?

Ok, so I just got my kit installed today ... My first impressions were .. BAH not such a big difference untill I took it to the boarding ramp of the autoroute .. WHOA !! I really had to hold on tight .. going in 2nd and 3rd gears makes you really feel the extra umph. I'll get back with more comments as I drive it daily.

I had exactly the same experience! I got mine installed today, and left the dealer's lot in the middle of busy traffic. It drives exactly the same as before when tooling around town, but when you get a chance to open up the throttle, HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE! On the Highway on ramp, I slowly pushed it in 2nd gear from about 30, and at 50mph the tires broke loose and began to squeal! 6500 rpm came so fast I almost missed the NLS.

If this car would have shipped like this from the factory I can't imagine the reviews and RING time that would have been seen.

I would have paid 500 more for the car up front if it was like this.

This is exactly what I am looking for. Feels the same as stock in normal driving but more power when you get into it. The SC tune was too twitchy at light throttle for my taste. I get mine installed next Tuesday.

I know it won't put a tilt in many kilts but has anybody noticed an increase in fuel mileage? I haven't got enough miles to make a real comparison but I AM noticing an increase in the real time mileage of 2 to 3 mpg on the main roads in town which, for the most part, are straight and level with a minimum of traffic lights. It bounces around 33 where it used to be 30-31. Not scientific but I know what I used to get and it's higher now on the same roads. I'll be heading to Daytona this weekend. I'll post it up if anybody is interested. I think it was Corey Mulhane that said we could expect an increase so long as the car is driven the same way as before. RIIIIGHT!!!!!

Fuel mileage on my part is pretty much the same as it used to be .. i'll be doing a trip this weekend so i'll see if it does better on the highway .. don't forget that if the car takes less gas in normal driving conditions .. that it'll take more when you boot it .. and lately I feel like booting it

Just got back from the dealer...started to work on it but apparently they need to call some place to get the calibration and they're closed on the weekends :-\. So I left the car there so they can do it monday while I'm at work, and I'm the proud driver of a white 4-door aveo :p...

so...should I take it to the track tomorrow?

Wow, I went to the dealer today, and he quoted me 612.10 for the total install and kit. I also get an additional 10% off of that price for buying the car there. In addition to that, I found out, because I'm getting tires, that they are offering 15% off right now, so take 15% off of that, up to $100 and I have my total price. That is out the door pricing. I'm not sure if I really want to put this kit on before winter though.

If you can afford it, why not? Partial throttle operation will not become unruly with it...most people don't even notice a difference until they floor it, then they notice a big difference
