Question Help!!??

I am getting my car tuned this weekend. I just took the car out just to have fun driving. Well 10 min to drive I step on it. The car is cutting out and re-accelerating and then cutting out again. It just seems to hesitate. So what is going on? I think maybe an exhaust leak or pipes loose, but not sure. Also it seems to be backfiring more than usuall. Thanks to all who help out.

Any check engine lights? Was it fully warmed up? The engine, not the coolant. LNF's don't like to be flogged for about 15 mins into the run.

I'm checking the check engine lights later. I had it on already for Cat Efficiency with new exhaust. It was 10 min into drive. I think it's charge piping loose or something like that. I'm checking into later. It might not have been fully warmed but i've stepped on it cold before and it didn't do this.

I came home and drove the car again and everything is fine. Don't know what that was but I'll keep an eye on it.

Well, I've had mine break up pretty bad when I *thought* is was warmed up all the way in the past and then never again since I wait 15 mins now before woopin' on her. Good luck narrowing it down.

100% fact, your issue is you didnt let the car properly warm up. Let the car sit for about 40 seconds until the rev limiter comes down to 900rpm-700rpm before you decide to go romp on it.

The idea of cat warm up is to warm the 0_2 sensor up to operating temperatures. The 0_2 sensors job is to determine the amount of Oxygen left in the exhaust and calculate the AFR from that which it then tells the car to adjust for. When its not warmed up to operating temperatures, the car becomes very jerky on acceleration in first gear and if you romp on it YOU WILL MISFIRE like crazy and your car will go into limp mode. Misfires are not something you want to do to your new car.

We've all made the mistake once, just make sure to be careful next time.
