I ordered my car in JULY!!!!!

Car was on hold for the RPD since then.....so I said **** it and ordered it without it and was built in a week!

...of course i waited until about Nov. to do it.....so that was about a 5month bull**** wait.

That sucks... that may be what happens. I'm going to wait and see what the dealer rep says and go from there... if it were another option maybe I'd roll without it, but I want the RPD.. I could get the one they already have with it in white, but I love the blue.... My 06 is Arrival blue...

Dealer said the gauge cannot be installed after the car is made. It is a factory option. I bought the RPD and now cant get it installed. Thought GM would have both connections. Didnt think we would be rewiring!

Thumbs up

Just heard back from the dealer rep... Looks like the March 1st date of building 09 Cobalt SS with RPD is an accurate time frame. So, if you've heard build dates in early March, it looks to be accurate. This is just the news that I'm confirming. If anyone has anything more updated, please post it, thanks!!

Good luck with that, I did research a while ago on how rewiring MIGHT work, never tried it out though. Everything you need to know is in there.

Hardest thing is knowing w/o actually doing it is how the GMLAN will react and if BCM reprogram is needed.

I got the dreaded call today saying "looks like you were right, there is a hold on these cars" and it looks like an extra 4 weeks. I asked them last week the day before ordering that I heard there was a hold on this option, can you check it out? They said the night that I ordered that they looked it up, and nope there's are no holds.

Tonight they asked if I still want to wait or order without, and I said yes to waiting. BUT I hate that they don't know anything because I'm sure they can't tell me why or how long it has been on hold etc. I think if they gave me an answer it would just be pulled from their ass. I trust what the others here are saying more than the dealer. So I guess I'll wait until march and if I still don't hear anything positive I'll cancel my order and buy something else.

So if anyone does hear new news about this please let us know. Thanks

I just talked my dealership, were I will be purchasing my 09 ss/tc from.

He just checked his latest cobalt report, and there is no hold's on the 09's.

But he also said, if there is a supplier problem. Then it wouldn't show on here.

He also told me, if that's what everyone is saying then it's probably true , it could be a supplier problem.

My build date with the RPD was 1/26/09. Now it's pushed back to March, but it's not because of the RPD. I would guess if they were waiting to get the RPD units, the cars that were scheduled prior to yours being ordered will get those parts, and another shortage could be possible. This is just a guess, though. It's my understanding it was a supplier issue. The supplier was not getting paid. Once GM ponied-up the dough, the supplier starting releasing the RPDs. That's from the dealer, so who knows if it's accurate or not!

I'm interested in when the actual build date will be, because my dealer has thrown all kinds of numbers out. At first it was"there are no holds 8 weeks" then another guy said 5-6and now with this hold they are saying 12 weeks.

I also purchased my ss with a voucher, ordered it with the rpd on jan 24th but the dealer hasn't put the order into the factory yet. Waiting to see if I get a phone call telling me there is a hold or not on my car because of the rpd. Don't want the car till the snow is gone too plus gives me some time to see if the gm stage kit comes out and if so to see the numbers on it.

not worried about getting mine till the stage kit comes out anyway , when I feel that i want to monitor what the car is doing. Right now , bone stock , it would not really do any good , just a bunch of cool flashy lights.

Because the dealer is telling me "your car is on hold due to the RPD option and if you remove this option it will be built now". At least this is why I'm saying it, if it's true or not I don't know but I'm not going to drop that option to find out.
