Catback isn't necessary. All it's gonna do is cost a bunch and change the sound. A downpipe with the stock catback sounds great. Didn't know there was a K&N Cold Air Intake but you should get the K&N Typhoon Short Ram Intake (SRI). With the K&N SRI and the downpipe your car is gonna sound totally different in the front and rear. You're gonna love it. The GMS1 is a noticeable increase in power and torque. If you have been driving the car stock and you do those three things you're gonna love it.

Don't know of any other power adders that can help. Someone with more knowlege will probably chime in.

Just to be safe, you should keep your stock parts. If something ever should blow up, you may want to put the OEM intake and downpipe on just to prevent the dealership from blaming those parts. K&N guarantees their intake won't cause an engine to break. The K&N SRI comes with a business card that you keep in your car with a contact phone number to call if your dealership tries to blame any breakdown on the K&N intake. A downpipe isn't gonna cause anything to break, but some dealerships will try to blame any mod.

When you buy the GMS1 you should get the kit that is already put together through Crate Engine Depot (CED). Here's the link:

Cobalt, Solstice, HHR Stage Kit 19212670HK

Using this kit will prevent possible future problems by the dealership soldering the wires. Also, it will go on faster which means less labor cost.

Enjoy the upgrades.

stock exhaust is about 2.75" diameter. Doesnt get anymore free flowing than that, lol.

Its been dyno'd and proven that a 3" exhaust will next you a total of 2-3hp which the owner who did the dyno was ready to state that a catback exhaust is nothing more than a sound modifier and that the 2-3 hp gain may have been just a fluctuation from doing dynos back to back.

I think he did 3 runs.

2-3 hp gain is as good as 0 hp gain lol.

The intake and downpipe won't net you very much of a gain with GMS1 either, but i'd still say go for it.

U need to ensure the dealership solders the new map sensors when installing the GMS1 kit or u may have issues down the road like most of us did.

Uhh am I missing something. I thought the GMTU will only allow a certain HP and TQ no matter what is bolted onto the car.

C.E.D. for your Plug n Play....You can't go wrong if you're going with GMS1.

The stock PCM has a learn down feature. So no matter what you do to the car it won't really improve your hp. GMS1 removes that.

Just cut to the chase, If your looking for RAW Horsepower than get a 3" Catted or Catless Downpipe depending on how strict your emmissions are in your state, The K & N SRI is the Best Intake for our cars so good choice, But whats gonna net you the MOST HP is a HP Tune, GMS1 is a good upgrade dont get me wrong, But very expensive upgrade, Our cars are Beasts with a "Real" Tune! Once I got my HP 23PSI Tune last weekend the car turned into a Monster, It really wakes the KO4 up! The car has sooo much TQ that I cant go past 15PSI or the Stock Clutch slips like crazy lol.

How much torque do you have? Seems odd that it's an 09 and it's slipping. I don't think you should be slipping.

OP: There's a sticky on all of the tunes and options. HPT and Trifecta are the most common. Don't even ask what's better. Both have pros and cons and there are tons of threads about them.
