I don't like how they mix gravel with the salt... do they know this just causes more scratches and **** to my car?

Do you really think they car? That is the question you should ask yourself, although the answer should be apparent.

I'm not telling you this as an attack to you. I just want to let you know that changing to season-appropriate rubber makes a huge difference in the snow. Here's a good article.

Snow Tires: To Buy Or Not To Buy?

If you're in an area like me where it's unlikely, but still possible during the winter months that you'll encounter snow, I would definitely recommend the Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires. Engineered in Germany... just like our cars. :-) They have a 50,000mi warranty, and they come with Road Hazard built into the price. When it warms up, you don't have to worry about swapping tires.

Winter Testing at the Arctic Circle: Ultra High Performance All-Season

Just make sure to check your tire pressures as the temperatures change. ^^ It's +/- 1.5psi per 10 degrees C. (Way to use conflicting systems of measure... I know)

I know man... I got caught in a snowstorm in Utah, and I was passing cars after 1AM, pulled over with their hazards on. I rolled down my window and asked them if they needed me to call OnStar (there was no cell signal and OnStar is a satillite phone). I was a little GM turbo rental car with an Swedish American heart playing rescue-mobile. :-P

i have a few questions.

Does anyone else have a lot of gear whine from the tranny when under 30 degrees?

Also, my in tank fuel pump has a high pitched sound coming from it. Is that normal?

My car runs so rough when cold. It's kind of irritating.

The high pitched sound from the fuel pump... I'm unaware of. Your other issues though are common. I would definitely suggest letting the car run its warm-up cycle for at least 20 seconds (so that the oil fully circulates throughout the engine). Usually then, you can get away with putting your toe on the throttle. The RPMs should drop, and you should be ready to drive away, gingerly. :-)

The whine when it's cold is the drivetrain at low temperatures. Just take it easy for the first few miles. My personal "warm-up" cycle is actually driving for at least 6 miles. Usually the whine goes away after two miles. The LNF engine is known to be a little temperamental in cold weather. Just be nice to it, and it'll be nice to you. ^^

Some douche lady passed me in their Ford SUV on an overpass and gravel was hitting my car As if going 55 MPH isn't fast enough in snowy conditions. The snow was mostly melted, but there was still some slush. Regardless, the thoughts that were going through my head when she passed me on the overpass and I heard gravel hitting my car... let's just say, I've never had such an extreme bad thought on anyone till then (excluding a few of my ex-girlfriends)

Little Rock got its first snow this winter, pretty good one too at about 4 inches (It snows only about once a year here). Made 11.75 miles of the 12 mile drive home from work the other day only to be beaten by the hill entering my neighborhood made about 10 attempts before I parked it and walked home. Oh how I want my lsd

I too am rocking the DWS continental, these are the perfect tire for Denver Colorado, We get snow a few days a month in the winter and it is melted everywhere but the neighborhoods in 2 days. The tires are great if you stay off boost!

Got the snow shoes on her (General Tire Altimax Arctic 215/45/17) mid December and we've only had maybe 25" of snow so far this season. She's covered in salt and ice but has had no issues getting me where I want to be and offering up some fun in the snow along the way.

Feeling guilty. Dirty, nasty, salt covered, bottoming out on ice chunks pulling in the driveway. ya, and 24.4 mpg average from idling to warm it up.

Some what related question. Do you guys keep it running in the extreme cold when fueling up?

Running 1/2 worn Bridgestone RE960's A/S and doing good. I mean, getting going is a little tricky but nothing unmanageable.

Otherwise all is well. Starts no problem, etc.

True but if you get really good it's still not that big of a deal. I can GENTLY give it gas and ease the clutch so it pretty much just gets going right off of idle. Works great! If the tires start spinning from a dead stop it can be a pain in the ass!

I found Conti DWS is an OK all season tire, but it's not a snow. Next year I'll probably have a snow beater with Michelin Ice-X just for those few snow days.

well i have had 40 inches of snow in a month so my driveway is like, squished snow ha so its not horrible getting out of there. but if there is any snow in my way going up the hill i live on top of i get stuck, ha its not bad in snow on flat ground agreed and aslong as youre moving. but if you are going up a hill you like,, wont move and you will not understand why. your like in a hole that your tires have dug and you still wont movee. but everything ive read says that snow tired will fix it

I found that traction control off works better in some situations such as up hill. My driveway Is up hill.

Oh, the esc is brilliant as well in my opinion. Works very well.

100% Disagree. They're probably the epitome of All Season tires. 50,000mi warranty, road hazard coverage

All Season Tires tested at the arctic circle:
Winter Testing at the Arctic Circle: Ultra High Performance All-Season

I would actually consider using these tires on the road course on cold wet days.

I would consider getting these tires again on narrower 17" rims. That would help snow / rain traction, fuel economy, and actually make the ride and road noise a little better.

My SSTC GMS1 is doing great, shes sleeping in my aunt's garage while I continue to upgrade her. Added Depo projector HID's with 6000k bulbs, got a MOMO-ebrake handle, OTTP CP (hot and cold side) and a TWM STS...the last three I need to install. She takes a stretch and starts up every couple weeks, but enjoys NOSALT, lol

Mine is doing well I work at an airport so I have to drive through all the snow to get there and plow the runway. I have Yokohama Envigors that are all seasons...They are doing alright so far..But the stupid anti lock brakes are annoying sometimes.

I have stock tires since I just bought mine and they suck but I have found that drifting works really well and I am still salty about all the snow we have got in NY and wish I was back in Ohio bc the weather is so much better
