How to do a leak test?
whatsup guys, im having some trim issues with my MAF and a leak seems likely to be the problem. Im gonna do soapy water on intercooler tommorow but im also wondering whats the best way to perform a leak test to check my pipes and clamps and connections.
Two ways you can do it, disconnect the charge pipe from the turbo and cap it off, then apply pressure through the nipple near the tmap on the cold side ic pipe and listen for leaks.
Other way would to put a cap on the turbo, but then you also need to seal off the pcv port on the compressor side.

I think that sounds like a good way. Dont know how id cap it off but ill figure something out
and im on stock IC. i think i might have a crack in an endtank, or a leak somewhere. everythign seems secure. silicone couplers, t-bolts and all. But by process of elimination ill figure out the problem

I built the Home Depot boost leak tester. You don't have to cap the throttle body end, even though it's more accurate. Just be sure to remove your oil fill cap on your valve cover. Put your tester on where you hotside chargepipe begins on the pipe that has the BOV. Most leaks you can find with 24PSI of pressure, just by listening. Soapy water works great too, though. Another possible source of a leak is the BPV diaphragm. The only way to leak test that is to put the tester on the intake side of the turbo. You only wanna do this when the car is warm to make sure there's oil in the turbo because it's going to be spinning with the pressure you supply. You'll hear an air leak going into your valve cover from the breather pipe. Just ignore that.
