How do the SS/SC compare to the SS/TC?

Just curious if any of you have either had both or driven both, and how do you feel they compare to one another. Please go into detail about about performance including any type of turbo lag, torque steer, understeer, you name it! Also, I'm not entirely familiar with what options changed from the earlier SCs to the TCs so could you please tell me which one has the nicer interior and do-dads in your opinion. Lastly, coming from a standpoint of buying used is a SS/TC worth $5-6k more?

Thanks!

I drove a new at the dealer '07 sc and from what I remember not much difference in interior looks other than the seats, the dealer dude was actually telling me it was a turbo, but it had sc wheels, lol, the tc is a better ride all around imo, I walked away from the sc test ride with that "meh!" feeling, and when I drove my '09 sedan I was sold instantly and had a grin from ear to ear, and couldn't wait to get home to tell the wife...

TC has more power, better suspension, better seats, better breaks, better grilles, some argue better wheels. Cheaper and easier to upgrade. Need more?

But the LSJ is a great motor. I will give it that

I had an sc and it had the G85 package with Recaros and LSD it was a good car had bad wheel hop though for sure...and mine was an 06 so compared to my 09 ss/tc sedan quite a few things different. Like the others said the tc is a much better car all around and I as well was sold after driving the tc once and I walked away with an 09 SS/TC Sedan. Couldn't be happier it is well worth the extra money for my IMHO. And I have yet to experience any wheel hop in the tc plus it is a much smoother ride and with just a tune and catless dp your at 300hp and the car will destroy alot of things on the road pretty easily a tuned tc and untuned tc is like night and day difference too. Ide say go with a TC Sedan though. More rare and way less unexpected to be as fast as it is. so when.u.smoke people not only did u beat them in a Cobalt but u did it in a 4 door sedan :-) that's my .02 cents about them

Is that 300hp to the wheels or the fly?

Well if the Brembos "break" a lot I don't want those. I'd much prefer brakes that don't break...

rear brakes are ok, 10 minute job when you get the car, take a slide at a time dip it in grease and put it back on, 4 total, takes longer to jack the car up, lol

Well it does sound like the TC is worth the extra coin.

Couple more questions if you don't mind. I'm seeing there is a USB plugin, will that sync with my Iphone so I can play music? Or is it only for charging? Is it on the SC version?

Will golf clubs fit in a Cobalt SS?

Can you get heated seats?

Do they all come with a subwoofer in the trunk?

Lastly, is there a PDF showing the options available? That should shut me up I would think...

1. The 05, and 06's did not have the USB. And I believe you can play music via USB. But someone would have to varify that, since I don't have one

2. Probably. The rear seats fold down.

3. The SC's did. But not all.

4. Yes they do.

5. Not 100% sure. You can find the list of options for that specific car in the trunk. Or type the vin into here. Comprehensive GM VIN Decoder

Here's for the 2010.

Having experienced heated seats in many vehicles I not only find it warming, but I feel it is a necessity. Having a cold tushy is no bueno!

Obviously I have more research to do, so thanks for all the replies.

LSJ trans is better. ONLY the trans itself, other than that the LNF wins in every category

and the LSJ gets better mpg both city and highway. that is all

I'm still not even sure I want to make the transition to a FWD vehicle. I find FWD burnouts to be a displeasure. Not to mention, this car looks totally rice and I'm not sure this a image I'm ready to uphold.

Thanks again!

Have driven both & I would choose the SS/TC(LNF) hands down for comfortability, handling & power.
Both are nice, fun, peppy & clean cars & I am sure you'll be happy w/either one.

Only the ss coups with the huge wing might look rice get the ss/tc sedan like I have very moderate looking no.huge wing just a little trunk one...and there.more rare :-) I had a ss/sc coupe with the big wing on it and didn't mind it but now with the sedan I love the small wing. The sedans kick ass and have no less performance than the coupes also

Not all coupes have the ricer wing. I like mine though. But OP, you can get a low rise. Or go spoilerless.

Th sedan is nice. I don't like to put on a show if you know what I mean. Anything that looks less Mexican/Asian is my kind of style.

Any differences between the sedan and the coupe? What's the weight difference?

USB jack was only available on the 09 and up TC I believe. I am pretty sure the 07 and 08 SS did have the AUX jack though. You can play music through either USB or AUX with your Iphone. With the USB I am pretty sure you can control the Iphone through the radio.

Will golf clubs fit in a Cobalt SS?

I have fit 2 sets of clubs in my car with room to spare.

Can you get heated seats?

On the 06 and 07 SS/SC you could. You couldn't get heated seats with the Recaro package though.

Do they all come with a subwoofer in the trunk?

Yes. All Cobalt SS have the 6+1 Pioneer speaker system.

Lastly, is there a PDF showing the options available? That should shut me up I would think...

Options differ on each model year. The main options are:
05 SS/SC - Sunroof/Onstar/G85
06 & 07 SS/SC - Sunroof/Onstar/heated seats (non recaro seats only)/G85
08 & 09 SS/TC - Sunroof/G85/RPD (reconfigurable performance display) (onstar is standard)
10 SS/TC - only option is G85 (sunroof, Onstar and RPD are standard options on 2010 models)

I agree about the MPG. My LSJ consistantly got about 2 MPG better than my LNF. As far as the transmission goes, the LNF stock clutch is must stronger than the LSJ stock clutch was. Also, the lower final drive makes the LNF transmission much better to drive in first gear for day to day driving. In hard driving first is still pretty much useless though.
