Hows my build goin fellas?
Hows my build goin fellas?
Right now I have turboxs dp, hahn catback, hahn cai all installed with no tune. Mysteriously I havnt thrown a CEL yet! I'm planning on hptuners soon once I get some funds saved up(I'm a college student so I have to save up for 2 semesters of alcohol and mistakes as well).
I have turbo xs charge piping sitting in my garage ready for install....should I just throw those on as well or wait till the day before a tune?
Next summer I plan on intercooler, clutch, shifter, and I'm done wasting money on this car lol. Right before I bought the car it got a new IC/radiator from a body shop and when I boguht the car the clutch was slipping, for some stupid reason my parents insisted on getting another stock one....but at least it doesnt have much mileage on it.
Should the clutch/ic last until next summer? I usually only drive my car on the weekends at college and most of the time its simply from one side of campus to the other or a 5 minute drive to work, very short trips.

Well, it's not really a "build," but it sounds like things are going okay. You definitely need to get that tune to see the benefit of the bolt-ons. Your clutch should be fine unless you start running an Ethanol tune. The stock clutch can handle just about any gas tune.
and also I painted my calipers last summer, they chipped in a couple spots and im afraid of them rusting. Is it ok to just scrape the spots with a carbon steel dremel brush and do a touch up, or do I have to do the whole damn things?
Yea I feel like it may even be a tad slower with the bolt ons and no tune compared to stock...sounds almost like shes restricted right now

With an intake and no tune, your fuel short term fuel trims are all whacked out, probably spiking low and high by quite a bit. I would recommend putting the stock intake back on until you get someone to tune it.
^ I wouldnt quote him on the clutch bit.
Depending on how the tune is with bolt ons if you get in the high 350+ area for torque especially because your young youll probably drive the thing like crazy and the clutch wont last long.
Its really all in the tune, and Gremlin85 (my local tuner) has got the boost ramp perfect, if you have 100% boost in 1-2 gear that will shorten clutch life, he limits power in 1st and does a slow boost ramp in second so its not instant to my knowledge. so it saves clutch wear.

For most people it's not but its a pretty large investment for me. Pisses me off how these engines are so complicated, i miss being able to spend $1000 on a 300cc fourwheeler to fully rebuild the top end, big bore kit, exhaust, make a custom intake, simply rejet the carb and go kill some stock 450's lol
