The amount of cars that crankwalked was actually very small compared to the number that were made. I see a lot of people say this and they don't know what they're talking about. A company just set a new record with a 4g63 block never been rebuilt with an unported head and ran a 9.1. The 4g63 is an awesome engine if you take care of it. The problem is they're going down in price so douche bags can afford them and destroy them.

Well I didn't post for good or bad responses. I just thought I would share my sons ride that he has worked for by putting up hay and working the past 3 summers by weed eating and various side jobs. I was just really wondering how good you guys thought it would run because I really don't know much of anything about these cars.

Have him join dsmtalk and dsmtuners. Both websites have a lot of very intelligent people on the forums. Most of the people with dsms have been messing with the cars for 20 years or so so they know a lot about them. Depending on how much boost he's running with a ported head and 16g it should easily beat a somewhat stock lnf. Even with a tune the Dsm still should win from a roll race. There's multiple guys running 10s with the 16g. Assuming that's a real e3 16g and not a piece of crap Chinese knock off. I had a Dsm for 8 years and did pretty much everything you can to them. If you have any questions feel free to pm me or like I said get a name on those forums. A lot of good guys on there.

When I was 17 I drove a ford Taurus, I couldn't even drive my redone 86 silverado because it had no air bags. I have seen way to many irresponsible parents give their high schooler a fast unsafe car. Then the kid dies and you wonder why. Idk that's how I see it anyway.

Had it for about 6 months.
4 barrel rolls at 100mph, over the median and through oncoming traffic. Great fun. idk how I walked away.

OP
pretty bad ass you helped your son get that GST. Just gotta teach him to appreciate it and all the hardwork/your generosity put into getting it. GST's still have some fame, most in my area are hacked all to hell. Definatly sharpen your mechanical skills cause if he beats on it stuff may break easier than our lnf.
o btw track runs will be driver mod dependant so that means close
and low rolls you shouldnt have to go all out probably a NLS 2-3 will shut it down

All I could say is I wish my dad brought me home a car like that when I was 17. And sure, the body kit is a bit extreme, but thats the easy **** to fix. Overall it's going to be an awesome ride once you lose the uncle bens. There's been a lot of cobalts posted here that would make this look tight.
He's gonna get himself in **** with that car as it is. Thats just my 2. Everyone is going to be baited by that body kit etc and come in to play. Sooner or later your son will give in.
My advice, keep the power adders but bring it back to something that resembles the orig stock talon. just add HIDs, Rims, Tints, single colour paintjob. No stickers at all. None.
Im sure if you don't go half assed on the removal of that body kit, some kid will buy it off you to put on his Omni.

My buddy had a 91 talon that had almost 300k on it when it finally died. It still ran the car just literally fell apart. He drives a lot of miles everyday for work and relied on that car for years. Still had the original 14b too. There's a lot of the older guys with 1gs that have had them since new and still going strong. It's the same with any car. If you abuse it it's whole life how can you say it's the cars fault when it fails.

Hey good luck with the car. I certainly don't know you or your kid but I can say that I 100% would not buy my kid a car like that for his first car. Personally I had a civic as a first car. Had it from 35k to 200k saved me a ton of money in repairs and gas and allows me to purchase my own car now (08 cobalt ss) with my own money. Since I spent my own money on both cars I certainly took/ take care of both. I just think its a bad idea to buy any 16/17 year old kid any sort of a nice fast car, because as responsible as you think they are its too hard of a temptation at that age to do the right things with it. My father always told me when unwashed getting my license, you may pass your road test but you will not be driving anything until I believe you are ready to be a responsible driver. The fact that you are already talking about racing him is also a bad sign to me. Again I don't know you or your son but that's just my 2˘

You guys are killing me. First off this is my sons fifth car. That's right five 12345. And he Infact has a great deal of responsibility. Started him out on a regular eclipse and then on and on. He has fixed up and sold the others to help buy the car he has always wanted to. He has also spent countless hours at the strip with me and my buds. And I would not hesitate to say he can probably out drive the majority of the people posting on this site. I appreciate the advice but everyone to his own...

I wil agree a turbo car probably isn't a good idea for a first car though. Especially if he doesn't know much about cars.
You weren't doing sonething right. The 16g flows 550 cfm's the ko4 flows 380...
