I'm actually starting to like launch control...

at first I thought it was just a big gimmick and I could not keep the car from bogging through 1st while using it......but the more I use it and get used with how to drop the clutch with it, I actually like it... so my friend and I got the old Gtec pro out(lol) and decided to see what we could muster with it...

without LC according to Gtech Pro(which isn't accurate 100% but close enough on level ground and great for this experiment) we were able to pull a 5.3 second 0-60, I "averaged" about 5.5 seconds...

with the LC, we pulled a best of 5.4......but I was much more consistent in doing it... so although when I get a GREAT launch its a little quicker without LC, on the street, LC is actually pretty effective, I would actually trust it more on the street than not using it(racing)... now on the race track where you aren't as likely to spin, I could see where NO LC would shine but for what its worth, LC when used properly is actually pretty cool

now i'm sure those numbers aren't exactly accurate as far as actual 0-60 but we tested both ways on the same road so the results should be on par with each other

I agree with you. However, once tuned I think it's useless everywhere. You'll just be all show (smoke) and no go.

I personally can't muster better than 6.0 sec for 0-60 on my dynolicious iPod touch app. I wondered if others had similar results.
BTW, what's your 40-60 mph time ?
Mine is 2,2 secs.
If we have similar results than I guess I can't launch...

If you get tuned with HPTuners, you can lower the RPM of the launch control. It was great to me the other night at the track. I was able to get a 2.1 60', and it was my first time running the track, plus i was trying to get the LC dialed in. I got that 60' by launching at 3500 rpm.

LC is not just supposed to hold your engine RPM at 5k from what I understand. It's supposed to do a bit more than that, I just don't recall what. Try using the LC and launching at different RPM's and see what you register. I understand that between 2500 and 3500 RPM is the ideal to launch at.

Let us know what the results are after that.

It turns off your traction control, and it changes the ESC parameters. None of which are really going to affect a drag launch. But, a steady foot and lower launch RPM's will likely help with the launches

If I am racing at the track, I use the Launch Control. It's just consistent, and the launch is going to be decent every single time!

exactly, I can go faster launching normally......but when you throw in the times you dump the clutch too much and get wheel spin or slip it too much and kind of bog down, its MUCH more consistent with LC on the street(haven't been on the track yet)... if you NAIL the launch, a traditional launch is the way to go... but when you don't, it obviously isn't

plus the reaction you get from people as you bring the revs up is priceless, lol
