I'm in the process of cleaning up the drool off my keyboard . I'm going to hold off a bit and look for updates from everyone as to how the intake behaves on the vehicle over the coming months. So far it sounds like a very positive step in the right direction !

Personal Update:

Got in the intake today and was going to install it over lunch.

I was missing the "Quick Disconnect NPT" (breather hose) adapter fitting. I called K&N and they were very friendly, prompt, and are overnighting one to me.

I also asked them about the alternate bracket that doesn't fit some SS/TCs (mine included), and they sent me right to an engineer that was very helpful and knowledgeable. He knew exactly what I was talking about, let me know that they were almost done designing/producing an alternate bracket, and put me on a list to get sent one as soon as it's done.

Minus points for the missing part, but big plus for how quick, helpful, and knowledgeable they were.

They gave me a "very soon". Nothing more specific than that.

LOL!

I was going to surprise y'all. When you made a comment about the sound, I was gonna be all like "oh crap, my stock intake pipe must've come loose" and then pop the hood. I might still try it on Pyros... he may not be checking this thread.

Ratted out by CSS.net!

This is a funny loop we've got going on here right now. I guess as soon as they're done on your car, then it'll take a week to start making the new brackets I'd imagine and then we'd start getting them in.

They were never out of stock, if you figured out who to go to.

PM me if you're interested in details.

They've been done with it since the end of May.

They said it'll be a couple weeks to get the extra parts

Yeah sorry, just did some driving. Its smooth as **** at idle, i couldnt drive it as i broke my glasses and am blind as ****, so my brother was in the car. Comes on smooth and havent had any issues so far. It is LOUD though. It pulls pretty good, no erratic idle, no CEL and we put about 80 miles on it

Sounds like a supra with a little turbo bark? Its the first modded TC balt i know of, so im not sure if it sounds like the rest of them.

Oh and the 09 and the K&N had the correct bracket, no modification needed or a new bracket. Install was a breeze and it fits amazingly well.

Yeah ill take it out and beat on it soon. He is a little shy of really pounding the gears all the way through. Id really like to get the Z28 vs cobalt on film, but the Z28 was knocking the other day and it might be toast.

Gonna pull it apart tomorrow and see, ******* i paid to replace my valves(since i was working 80 hour weeks on salary) forgot to put the oil i gave him back in the car. I got a low oil light on the way home then this noise when i pulled in the driveway. So pissed.

Suppose to get mine tomorrow and then its straight onto install!

So did we all confirm a good way to mount the filter or are we all still all over the board with that?

My friend with GMS1 mounted his at 9ish...

How did everybody get a hold of the turbo inlet bolts/flathead the hose clamp on the inlet. I have big hands, and its a little tight...recommended tool...did the hose clamps slip at all while you were tightening them?

You may not need the revised bracket, the 09 i installed this on was a late build and did not require the revised bracket.

I installed it at 12:30 right now, I will adjust it and see how it changes things as i have more time and can see

As for reaching the worm screw clamp on the stock intake, i have a screwdriver like socket attachment +8mm socket that worked great. Or you could try a short screwdriver(i didnt like that method as much). Total install time was 30 min start to finish. Assuming you have all the needed tools. it wont slip while tightening, just dont have it really really loose when you slide it on.

Oh and dont get too worried about your install, it really is easy.

What he said.^

I just use a rachet with a long extension, u-joint, and 8mm socket. It seems to work pretty well. I get it as loose as I can and then slip it off the turbo.

I had a 10in extension for my screw driver. Anyways,

I know I want to try and get the ltft's as close to 0.0 as possible and im very close in my fine tweaking, my question is, what is an acceptable ltft range that wont hurt the car?

stft's are pretty much perfect at the spot im in now but the ltft's are at +2.3. I think I need to rotate the filter counterclockwise just a tad bit more.

I will let you know that I found the 2-3 o' clock position is extremely positive for fuel trims and 8-9 o' clock position is extremely negative.

A happy medium has been between 12:00 and 1:00 for me.

Thanks! i was actually going to ask what you had found to be best so far, as i dont have tuning software to monitor the car. I simply am going off of throttle response and then backing it off a little so as not to run it lean or anything. right now i have it at 12:30 and it idles smoooooooth and has less surge than it did stock.

That thing is scary loud the first time you turn the car on haha.
