The driveability issue with the intakes happen regardless of whether you're stock or custom tuned. I'm willing to bet that the K&N is just as bad as the others in this respect seeing how close the MAF is to the filter. The only thing that MAY help the K&N is the use of that filter with the spiral, cone on the end. That may just help "swirl" the air and reduce the turbulence at the maf. These intake manufacturers need to get someone knowledgeable (no disrespect to the testers) that knows what to look for with logging capability rather than someone that simply says "looks good, sounds good" as everyone has done so far.
One thing im wondering is ....on the K&N dyno sheet it says 2nd gear run? Why would they dyno the car in 2nd gear?

rukkee I thought the same thing when I read this post the other day about the 2nd gear pull I can see doing it in 3rd in these cars for clutch slip reasons but 2nd seems a little odd

I hope this is better than the other tc intakes, I would like to get something eventually. The mass air is so close to the filter I don't see how it will be different.. Can't wait to hear about people running it and getting some real tests. I imagine it will cost around $350..
I still don't like the idea of extra dirt that will get through, but I would probably give these a shot if I get this..

What do I mean? Google "k&n test" and look at some of the results. More air = more dirt

PS: What is the status of CP-E? I know you were their promoter of sorts, and this cold air box style reminded me of them. I would love to have their "ice box"

I had someone scold me for my K&N on my Hahn once. The same kid who runs octane booster on his FJ Cruiser and had spray on his SRT4. But dirt is worse

Ah another member asked about cp-e. Yeah I should call the owner up again and see whats up. I know their main engineer left and they were working on the genesis coupe, sooo the SS was gonna be like this winter. I'll email/call and see whats up and post up again, I'm too good at forgetting :P

That looks awesome, man I've been hoping for an Short Ram Intake with a heat shield ever since I bought this car.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't screw with the trims so that guys that are stock or GMS1 or Superchips can run it without having to do custom tuning specifically for the intake.

I haven't seen anything on K&N's website yet. I'm thinking I could call and see if the part # and price have been set.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the KN to get the intake released and I'm wondering if GM will ever come out with the Stage 2 by now, if so I will have a real hard deciding, which one to go for.
