.
the book says a smooth quick realase of the clutch while keeping the accelerator pedal on the floor . has anyone in a t/c done this ? is it better to just turn off the traction control or to use the launch control
No matter which one you go for the reality is once ur gas is mashed to the floor the tires aren't going to stick in first gear at all. Feathering it in competitive mode (but NOT with Launch Control engaged) can have better results for the first part of the launch, but once the gas is on the floor, the tires let loose.
Using launch control u pretty much let loose as soon as you engage the clutch, but depending on how the tires are spinning you'll be able to feel the car applying minimal brake in an effort to control the spin. In testing on the roads I've found this can work well, or not so well, but it could be dependent on the surface. I'm not sure how many have consistently tried using LC at the strip versus not...I personally haven't been able to get to the strip yet.
Overall I don't think it really matters either way though you'll find people on here that say "yes" to LC and those who say "no"...it really comes down to personal preference and what your 1/4 mile times tell you at the strip. The 60" times should give you a relatively good indication of which is working better for you under the conditions your racing in.

I was having issues at the strip with my launch control. I'd pull my foot off the clutch too fast and my TC would practically stall out. Since then i've posted a thread here and got some help from mroe experianced drivers. Slip the clutch in. As the guys say, not too fast and not too slow. I've noticed a significant increase in handling and power application as i've done this. I havn't hit the drag strip yet, but I'll be there more oftain come May when it's open till midnight.
Also try slipping the clutch at different RPM's. 3k vs 5k. But always with the trac control off or in launch control.

I have when i first bought the car but it is totally retarded. The launches with it are horrible. You are much better off using the traction control off and launching around 2500 rpm. that is where I get the best launches. Well i am also tuned so launch control really doesn't work for me
lol do it. j/k
I often wondered how it would work if you got drag radials or slicks and tried the launch control with a stock tune. Dammit I shoulda tried that before I got tuned lol

Don't use LC unless you simply enjoy roasting the hideously expensive Continentals. The LC system's 5,100rpm launch is far too much. A smooth launch from 2-2.5k rpm with minimal wheelspin is the quickest way off the line.
I will say I hated the LC at first and att the track I will not use it....
I've tried the LC in just about everyway and recently its been working excellent for me. Floor the gas and never lift...release the clutch slowly(not exactly slow but not dumping it) and the car barely even spins. Correct me if im wrong but the LC is another version of traction control...those who dump the clutch too hard will have their car apply the brakes enough to stop the car from spinning. Hence the almost stall out situation like i've experienced at the track.
