My 418$ Service that fixed my rough engine!

I have had recent work done on my car to get it back running to 100% I don't wanna type what was wrong with it so here's a link to my post. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/08-0...unning-222856/

Instead I want to talk about what my bogging above 5,500rpm was all about. I took the car in Monday to the dealer, after a expensive service bill that i thought they were going to cover it came back around n bit me in the ass. The reason for my car to run so bad was a clogged air filter!!!!!!!! Can was not get sufficient amount of air at 5-5,500 rpm and would die off consistently everytime there.

In conclusion they nailed me for a 418$ Airfilter/service bill that will happily remind me always to keep up with maintenance. Funny thing is car just broke 22,000kms and I didn't expect to have to change it that soon...so if u r having engine issues with ur car hitting a wall at roughly the same rpms as I did then please check ur air filters most likely they are dirty.

Oh and the car runs fantastic now pulls all the way to redline.

I had gm tell me I was running nitrous and swaped bigger injectors. Let's put it this way that guy no longer works for gm cause he was herassing me as I was young and the car only had over 3,000 miles as I bought it new and only went in to get my oil changed. Then they tried to charge me for a blown fuse to my passenger air bag over $100 for a cheap a$$ fuse and labor how hard is that LMAO but when ur car bogs like that it is always the least thing u would expect to be the problem. When my car had problems I just went stage 3 and more and fixed all my problems

You payed 418 for a new air filter?!?!? The air filter from GM is like 30 dollars and takes literally 5 minutes to swap them. You got screwed big time.

its not just for the air filter. im sure he took a lot of their time for them to properly diagnose what was going on. it just figures it was something obvious like that. lol

What did the filter look like? If it was that clogged, I would think it would be pretty obvious. They should have shown you the filter. Would have been nice to takes pics of it, but let us know what it looked like if you can.

So, are the air filters getting wet when it rains, even in the stock airbox? I have the 5500RPM bog, but it's only when it's raining.

Thanks, John! Glad you got her worked out. I bet the $418 feels worth it just to get your car running right again.

That's pretty wild, I swapped back to the stock box with a new air filter and still have that issue above 6k. Im going to check for a crack in my IC next.

It's sucking in water from a boost leak under light throttle. Check the charge pipes and intercooler for holes/cracks.
