You saw it right after it was cooking in the engine compartment for a couple minutes. Nothing to worry about

I did romp on my car till around 800 miles , I wouldn't have done back to back to back to back 0-60 pulls on a green motor .

I've never seen temps in the 220's in my car , but i'm sure thats fine . If you change out GM's dexcool they can void the warranty on the engine, so a different coolant is a no no OP

Ohhh...forgot to mention ..... these motor's are broke in at the factory , the breakin period is more for the drivetrain than the engine it'self . Most cars that are factory filled with synthetic oil are done like that cause synthetic oil isn't a good breakin oil.

mehhhh yeah, that's what they say, but anyone who's changed the oil for the first time in a car like this knows it's probably bullshit as soon as he looks inside the drain pan and sees metal shavings

There are two schools of thought on breaking in a new motor: one is to beat it like a red headed stepchild and one is to run varying constant speeds and baby it. I have all beat on my new cars and I've nvr had issues.

i belive the proper break in procedure for our cars is
1. dont take it over 3000rpms before 500 miles
2. dont stay at a constant rpm for a long time (driving home on the freeway) before 500miles
3. try not to spool too much
4. i played it safe and went to 1000miles before i did any aggressive driving.

but im a little ocd when it comes to this stuff

hmm when i'm driving it stays around 192 and occasionally goes into the high 190's... when i pushed it the first two times on my way back home it didn't even go up... but the last time it went up to 200ish max 203... but, when i get in my driveway and park in the garage, i sat and watched it, it rose up to 205 and stayed that way, then went to 207 and stepped up eventually to 210 then gradually went to 216 and dropped back off gradually to 205 then down to 200... then back up to 205 and i backed out and drove it down the road and it went down to 198 and stayed basically untill i pulled back in and it went back up to 205 and when it got to 207 i just shut it off... i wonder if the thing is wrong...

what is a harmful temp?

and my car now has like 520 miles on it..

that 65 was on the interstate for about 2 hours and it wasn't a constant 65 either i changed it every 10 minutes or so (maybe than 10), id slow down with the cruse and speed up and then go back down to 65 and i punched it a couple of times and changed gears a lot and all that... the last 60 miles was just about stop and go traffic cuz there was a wreck on the interstate.. it wasn't exactly 65 the hole way back but it was around that...

I have always broke in my cars following this guy's method. The Cobalt is the biggest HP motor I have had, but I have had 2 other cars I broke in like this guy says to, and neither had any engine issues, and my Contour was always freakishly powerful. My motorcycle was broke in this way too and it's ran great for 5 years now and 14,000rpm

I will add this though... Doesn't Government Motors break our engines in on an engine dyno before they put them in the cars? I thought I read that somewhere that our motors were broke in at the factory...

*sigh... that's a little releaving lol. I wanna know what a bad temp for it is... hmm i guess it's normal i mean i can't think of anything "you can do" to the car to make the coolant temps spike and stuff, especially if you are parked and just sit and watch it go up and down lol.

I wonder if me living on the gulf coast has anything to do with it... i mean it's hot as mess down here in the spring, summer, and fall. the winter is the only time we get some decent weather...
