Question Need some help from CSS

Ok ive found a few threads on here talking about the end caps or end tanks breaking on the TC. Well GM kicked back my IC with a broken end cap because it had a dent on the underside of the IC in the middle. They said its what caused the IC end cap to crack and break. Anyways i told them it was a common issue for the plastic to break or crack. IF anyone could please post links to threads dealing with this issue. Thanks.

I just had mine replaced last month one of the end tanks had a huge chunk missing out of the bottom of it. GM covered it under warranty. I didnt have any marks on the IC though. GL getting them to cover it any excuse they can use they will.

The Dejon style piping will increase the likely hood of a crack. It drastically reduces the amount of soft tubing, and has short couplers, so there's more stress on the end tanks. ZZP and stock have the big long silicone hoses, which is a good thing.

It's not a common issue. There are 3 things that will contibute to cracking end tanks and I'm pretty sure you had met all of em.
1) High boost (over 22 lbs)
2) Aftermarket lower charge pipes
3) Very cold weather (under 40 degrees)
Another factor is lowering the car to the point of exposing the IC to damage...not sure if you're lowered to that point, but you mentioned the IC was dented as well.

I'm in So Calif using stock IC with 20.5 lbs boost and stock charge pipes. No problems with over 20K miles on the tune.

Aftermarket charge pipes with short couplers are the biggest killer imo. I have been running 22+ psi, 54k miles on the car and I drove it through 3 winters with -30 temps. Intercooler is still intact.

I ran the Injen with short couplers for quite awhile and never had an issue.

Best thing you can is just upgrade to a better intercooler. it will only happen again with a factory one. Plus when boosting over 20psi and in the hot weather your factory one is helping but just about at its limits..lol
