Curious about this too. I wonder how costly it would be to substitute the rubber hoses with either SS or nylon braided instead of regular rubber. If anything at least for the aesthetic value.

Aluminum? perhaps its stainless that would definitely raise the price, but is heavier

I don't think the weight is going to make a difference there.

doesn't any catch can work? just a matter on how you mount it and the proper size hoses you get from the hardware store??? I got my Greddy one on, but didn't know where to mount it so took it out and slapped a breather on. IMO $110 is a little pricey for a water-air separator

thats i what thought, I bought one and just taped a 3/8 barb on the top for a breather, But I read that some cans have internal baffles and some dont, which increases the price.

are u seriously arguing that minute amounts of oil dropping into a can is going to cause wear so bad that u feel the need to spend 100+ on what u can get for like 9.50 shipped on ebay? '

lol hilarious.

I removed a bud's lower CP yesterday and when I got the pipe off OMFG!!! I saw quite a bit of oil lacing the inside of the pipe on both ends! I'm not talking minute amounts, probably close to a half ounce if I had to guess! When I took my pipes off before the winter they were bone dry so I'm still not sure whether a catch can is necessary for my car just yet.

wait, so the unburned fuel for the most part coming from the outlet on the valve cover going to the intake is essential for HP? If not, I do not understand why anyone would want to blow $110 on a water/air separator. So someone on here says they are not all made the same?? Does MPX have a turbine to cyclone the air in your intake? I mean as long as it lets unburned air/fuel pass and trap oil it is a good catch can right?

Is anyone aware of the contents of the catch can? What would set a good oil catch can apart from the rest would be lots of surface area to impede the vapor flow to allow for condensation of the vapor (ie. stainless steel mesh). I know a lot of the generic catch cans are usually empty, with perhaps a baffle between the inlet and outlet.

Also, I'd like to know if anyone has had issues from the dealer about voiding the warranty when the catch can is installed (since you are altering the emissions system of the car)

The sumota catch can is a 3-layer wire (looks like stainless steel?) mesh....
