I don't know what you're talking about. The standard low spoiler blocks much of my rearward vision. At least if I had the tall one I could see under it better. 
Rearward vision in general on the Cobalt is not the best due to my height and the high rear parcel shelf, but I hate how the low spoiler cuts right across my line of sight and blocks the front of most cars within a close following distance to the rear. But I wouldn't trade it for the world. Being able to fly below the radar is well worth it.

downforce still affects how well the rear wheels are pressed on the road for grip. (whether they are spinning or not.) A rear wing on a RWD assists in traction, whereas on a FWD car it helps stability. depending on the car and conditions you have enough resistance at 75+ to use a wing. (Especially the giant high rise one.)
and these cars lose traction off the line anyways. even with the TC and ESC on.
