2 late.

By then I'll either have a Spec Stage 2+ clutch or I will have persuaded my dealer to fix my OEM clutch.

So I won't care anymore about the SS/T.

Ok, maybe a little ...

I think this is the strike related shutdown being discussed. Seeing how they had a 50 day supply of cobalts at 3/1 and SS/TC is out in June, I don't see how its at all affected by this.

Shutdown won't be until April anyway...

Are Dealerships going to Charge you more if you order one instead of buy one off the lot?

My friends a Mechanic at a GM Dealership and all he tells me all day long is how the Mechanics take out these new cars and beat the **** out of them and do burnouts everywere whenever they get a decently quick car in so im kinda paranoid about that happening to me and would rather just order one and take delivery the day it comes in then get one thats been sitting on the lot and driven before

I just hope they keep making them...

I'll be pissed if I can't get one in May...

Because ordering them, you can't dicker on the price.

You can still negotiate on price, even when ordering to suite your wants. It just means getting the car the way you want it.
Having said that, because of the limited supply at first, most dealers won't deal much because someone will likely offer them full price.

As for getting a car that has been beat on from the dealership, inspect the car and if the "new tire" little rubber nobbies are not still on the front tires, you know it has been abused, so raise hell with the manager.

i am a mechanic at a dealer and when we get new PDI's or new cars in we don't beat on them, we drive to the gas station and back take it on the highway for about 1 mile and side roads for one mile. atleast i can say i treat the cars nice cause i wouldn't want that to happen to me.

Yeah check this out, my friends a Mechanic at a GM Dealership which Mainly Involves Pontiac / Cadillac, a customer brought his GTO in for Service and the Dealership gave him a Rental car for the Day to use while his GTO was getting serviced, so the Guy is driving home on the highway in his Rental Car and No Joke, Swear to God he was just driving home in his rental on the Highway and saw HIS OWN CAR FLY PAST HIM going atleast 100+ in the fast line right past the owner himself, so he calls the dealership up and completely freaks out, hes like I just brought my GTO in for Service and i just saw it fly past me on the highway going some redicilous speed, Come to find out it was a Mechanic taking it out for a "test run" to make sure everything worked properly, he got fired.. Could you imagine seeing your own car fly past you at 100+ with some random mechanic driving it

yeah doesn't surprise me. I work on a lot of corvettes, and last summer i had a guy with a 2006 Z06 come in and said it didn't shift right, he also said do what ever it takes to figure this out, i don't care how fast you go. So i went out and hit it pretty hard into 2nd at 60 then again at 90 for 3rd, all before i got on the highway. So needless to say nothing was wrong. i call the customer and ask him how it gets it not to shift, he said"ohhh it is when i am going sideways". i then said well sorry sir but i do not feel like killing myself or ruining a 80,000 dollar vehicle, there are some crazy people out there.

LOL, I admit I get on some cars a little bit, we had a GTP come in so I got on it to see if it had any *****, Just 0-50 kinda stuff on main street outside the shop. I didnt burn the tires out or anything, nothing that would hurt that car. Alot of people come to the shop have carbon build up because they never go past 1/4 throttle when they drive, so actually driving the car hard for a bit can help clean that up. Anyway, at the shop sometimes a car will randomly die some place, so we take my bosses car and use his front bumper to push the car to the shop if it doesnt run and if its fairly close by. Its funny cause people look at you goofy when you bumper push another car a half mile to a shop. It doesnt hurt either car, but I would be pissed if I saw my truck going 100 down the freeway.

another source who works at lordstown said he was not aware of such a shut down, but he will check tomorrow. But once again it looks like they have been making the 2008 cobalt ss/tc since march 1st, so they are building up stock, so if this is true they will ship out soon(hopefully).

Yes you did, at the time they said they had enough for 30 more days, but i guess they have run out quicker. But the 19th is when my order got accepted to be built or picked by the factory.
