Are our speedos really that slow?
I was driving the other day, and was just seeing what speed each gear topped out in. I noticed that 3rd topped at 96-100 MPH. Kinda hard to actually tell, since I was watching for rush hour traffic, and kids, in a DEF school zone...
Anyways, while on this back road, I could never get the speedo to go above 100 MPH in 3rd. I have seen some people post that the speedo may be slow, by a few MPH, but noone is really for certain. I have also read that 3rd should top at like 105 or so.
Sooo, are they really 5 mph slow on WOT?

I notice it takes about a full second or two to become accurate.

I might be wrong here and I'm sure someone would jump in and correct me. I don't think it was meant that it was slow in the sense of when you're cruising.
I think what people were saying is that if you WOT accelerate the speedo takes a second or so to "catch up" to the speed you are actually doing.

Yea there is fairly significant lag when you're WOT.
Try taking the car up to redline in third, shift to 5th and let off the gas during the shift. When I shift at redline in 3rd I'm around 90-95MPH but by the time I put it in 5th the speedo says north of 100-105MPH and I haven't given it any more gas.

REALLY??? Why would I put I was going 100 MPH in a rush hour traffic, in a school zone for the def, unless I was just making a joke? You know, kind of making fun of some of the tools on here that race in traffic, or do completely idiotic things in their car, that put themselves and others in danger, all for the sake of trying to appear cool.
Did you read the second paragraph? "While on this back road". Granted I did not clarify that by back road, I meant traffic free, road to nowhere, where there arent any houses, or cars for miles, but in all honesty if you seriously believe I was going 100 MPH in a def, crowded, school zone during rush hour traffic, then by all means dont let me stand in the way of your pure and complete ignorance.
Did I mention that Webster's took the word gullible out of the dictionary?
I do. It looks like the one Borat wears. Except it fits tighter. Butt floss ftw!!!
