P0101 persists

Hello, as of just now I replaced the BOV for my Cobalt SS 2009 the old owner installed with a new BPV, I was hoping this would fix the P0101 issue but one minute after the car felt like it was pushing normal boost the car boost got cut and began pushing less than 5 PSI again. You can see the gauge physically go down quickly when the boost gets cut. Not so long after the CEL turned on showing me the P0101 code. This is the only code I have and no other codes. I bought a boost leak tester to see if it's that but honestly, I don't think it's a leak. I am starting to think it's a tuning/computer problem as the old owner told me they had it tuned but decided to make it stock tune again. The car has a K&N intake, could this possibly be what is causing the issue? the fact that I have a car that's running the K&N intake without a tune? and would get it ZZP tune help? Any help would be appreciated thank you!

Yours is the one that had the BOV ont he upper chargepipe, and the MAF in the stock location right? You swapped back to a stock BPV now still has the p0101? it could still be the MAF or it could possibly in the tune, if it was tuned for the BOV. A lot of people will say boost leak, but it sounds very similar to my issue when I bought my HHR SS. It would boost fine then out of no where it would throw p0101 and cut boost to maybe 5 psi at most. I could clear the code and clean the MAF and it would boost fine for any between a few mintues to a day, then pop the code again and cut boost. I swapped the MAF and it went way.

I had the K&N on my Cobalt for a while untuned, never had any issues. With the previous owner saying it was tuned and then he went back to stock and left the BOV makes me think he didn't know what he wad doing, and it could be the tune. Also just to clerify you did uninstall the BOV and block the hole after you installed the BPV?

Hello, I forgot to mention this but I bought a new oem MAF sensor after cleaning the first one did not work, so I have ruled out the possibility of a bad MAF sensor. Yes, I also did make sure to cover the BOV hole from the upper charge pipe. I am not sure what it could be anymore honestly, lol. My leak tester comes Sunday so we'll see by then, thank you.
-EDIT, and yes that is me

It's hard to say really. With the MAF ruled out, it could be wiring, leaks, or it could be in the tuning, depending on who he got to reflash it, if he got it done at all. I would go thorugh and verify your intake is connected nice and secure. I remember it being kinda hard to get the K&N coupler on the turbo and on the intake correctly. I don't kow if a MAP in loose or leaking around the seal if it will trip a p0101, but it might. I would check both of those, and the vaccum lines make sure they are all intact.

if there is still an issue post boost leak check, PM me and we can meet up and I'll take a look at things.

Have any pictures of the car? I may have tuned your cobalt, I've done a few with BOVs in the Denver area.

Hello, sorry I just saw this I did not realize I had another reply. But I currently don't have any photos of my car in my computer but I don't think you would be able to recognize it either way lol. The car used to be plasti dipped by the ex-ex owner of the car and the ex-owner did a really crappy red spray paint job on it. I am going to have to have it repainted (good) at some point in the future as well. The boost leak tester came in today but I didn't get the chance to test it, I'll let you know tomorrow if I get around to testing the leak, thanks!.

*UPDATE* It was a leak in one of the intercooler hose/pipe things, moral of the story, if you get a P101 chances are it is a leak. I just thought it wasn't because the car would limit the power once it realized it was not getting the right air. Car is pushing full boost now and today I took it to emissions and it passed! Thanks to the people who took the time to try and help.

Being that the previous ower had a BOV installed you may want to make sure tuning is proper too. I don't what happens if the car was tuned for BOV and it is back on the stock BPV.
