Pennsylvania Collector Car Plate
Pennsylvania Collector Car Plate
After doing a lot of research which includes talking to a DMV Rep.,I have found I can get a collector car plate. It requires pictures of the car and mods and receipts for everything done to the car. A pretty straight forward process. $75 one time registration fee plus messenger fees. Collector car includes street rods, Pro street, etc. They lumped everything into one group. Classic and Antique are still separate. Helps with the insurance also. I only drive the car about 2000 miles a year so its perfect for me.
its like making it a street rod so they dont need emissions and lower insurance i dont think he means it as the 1st one built or a special 1 of 100 plus i think he only has to register once instead of every year
Back when I had my GN I had looked into Collector's car insurance, basically replacing the car for current market value of the car instead of KBB.
They had all kinds of stipulations like interior/exterior/engine pictures but you also had to give the mileage and could only drive x numbers of miles per year.

Back in the 90's there was a big debate over collector plates, because one state (which I thought was PA) had a bunch of people with the plates and decided to change the rules, making it so that if your car had these plates you could only drive it on the weekends and during day light hours only, and once you had the plates, you couldn't change back.
I haven't heard these horror stories in years, but it was enough to keep me from putting a collector plate on my Monte to this day.

Sad thing there is one of these sitting down the road from me next to a shed with weeds growing up around it. Its been there for like 2 years now.
Me and a friend stopped and talked to the 70 year old man about selling it and he wasn't interested in selling it, said he was just going to let it sit there.
