Thumbs up Score ! ( 10W30 )

Wifey picked some up yesterday at Wally World - 10W30 Ultra for $ 25.00.

It does have the GM4718M in small print on the back of the jug - my curiousity is now sated.

The Camaro will get some this weekend, along w/ a 1/2 quart of Marvel Mystery Oil.

I still have ~ 75% on the PP in the 'Balt now, so it may be a while for it.

S'allright - the Camaro is used to being an oil guinea pig/****. As long as it is good syn oil , no problemo.

manufactorers say to use 5W30 because it is thinner than 10w30 and flows much better in the winter. During the summer months i switch to 10W30 then around September i switch back to 5W30.
So conclusion:
5W30- flows easier and is light
10W30- thicker but offers more wear protection

Read this:
"..will repair or replace, at its option and at its expense, the engine parts listed below, that fail on account of engine wear or which experience abnormal
wear, because Pennzoil® motor oil failed to provide proper lubrication."

So, you have to show the oil failed to lubricate properly...yeah..right

I really don't think you gain any viscosity in SUMMER by bumping up the lower number to 10. That only increases viscosity at very low temps..it's not like you *average* the two #s to get the viscosity at higher temps. As for COLD winters...yes, the 5W30 will offer better initial start up flow than 10W30. So, just stay with the 5W all year. If you really *need* higher summer viscosity (I doubt it), then Euro style 5W40 would be the way to go for sure.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard someone, usually an auto mechanic, say that they wouldn't use a 5W-30 motor oil because it is, "Too thin." Then they may use a 10W-30 or SAE 30 motor oil. At engine operating temperatures these oils are the same. The only time the 5W-30 oil is "thin" is at cold start up conditions where you need it to be "thin."

Yeah right, it says change every 4 thousand miles. I promise without full receipts and an amazingtear down analysis, Penzoil would never honor that warranty.

It would be like GM honoring the powertrain warranty at 99k miles. Your car would almost have to be perfect for them to do such a thing.
