people's thoughts who went from __ to ss/tc

I wanna know what people think when they went from either

2.2-->ss/tc
2.4-->ss/tc
or
ss/sc-->ss/tc

I have a 2.4, and i really want the tc bc obviously it's fast, handles nice, looks awesome, but is it worth it buying another cobalt, even if it's like a completely different car?

If i could afford to own a 2.4L for winter and my ss/tc I'd be jumpin all over it. I almost kept my last car for a winter beater but decided 1 car is easily to deal with..........for now

If I had a 2.4 I would just keep it and mod the **** out of it. That's just me, I was looking into a 2.4 before I bought my TC just so I could have a N/A project on my hands, but I couldnt pass up the TC. If you still owe quite a bit of money and would be way upside down by getting a TC, I wouldnt do it. But if the 2.4 is paid off and you want a TC just because, go for it!!!

^agreed on what he said.

But for your OP, i went from 2.2 to TC and it was like getting a new car. forget about it being a cobalt or whatever. Everything about it is different. The boost gauge, the seats, the way the pedals look, the shifter, the onstar, the sunroof, the rims, foglights. Makes driving around 100x more fun then my 2.2 ever was.

I get what you're saying, LOL!! It's like night and day difference between a stock TC and tuned TC, can't wait til I get my tune.

i went from a 2003 pontiac grand am gt...to my tc

...not knowing what to expect at all...i had read about it in a magazine my buddy had...

went to the dealer i had just gotten my wifes aveo from...told him what i wanted...he found it..dealer trade...

2 days later i had one of 9 black ones, of 17 total tc's in MI at the time...june 08...

i recently had to have the high pressure fuel pump replaced....despite that minor issue...(warranty)...

i have not been disappointed since day one!!!!

I was actually thinking about this, I've been trying to get my mom and sister buy my 2.4 off me so it can stay in the family.

I've thought about modding it out, but with all the bolt ons it doesnt get very far, I would have to get the hahn turbo kit to make any real power, AND it's automatic (couldnt afford the ss/sc like 2 years ago so I had to get this, still a good car though)
I learned to drive on stick, and I want to go back to it, i miss it. bad.

thanks for your thoughts!

I traded an '07 G5 GT 2.4 NA for my '08 TC and I love the power, handling & style much more than the G5.

I do miss the remote start in the winter though.

I traded my fully bolted/tuned 2.2L for an SS/TC. Pretty quick for an LS but the TC is different in everyway. I had a huge grin on my face when I first hauled ass around a corner with my TC lol. The extra power is awsome as well but underneath it's still a cobalt and has all those cobalt annoyances with it. I love my balt but if we had a mazda speed dealer nearby I probably would have got an MS3 instead. Just go test drive one and see if it's worth the extra $.

2 grand? U crazy? A N20 setup doesnt cost 2 grand. Then he can run 300+ hp. Mmmmm.....

stage 2 and a 2.8" pulley is faster than a stock SS/TC.

:rofl: I got my OTT stage 1 kit (2.8" pulley, 60lb injectors, Oversized Tensioner, INSTALLED and tuned) for $670.

You probably never owned a SS/SC, quit talking like you know about them.

you don't need 60# injectors to beat a stock ss/tc .... GM Stage 2, 77.9mm pulley, 42# injectors + intake or air box mod ....

Stage 2 = $500 new plus $100-$200 install
Intake = $200
Air Box Mod = $50 for filter

What do you have done to your car? Because a stock TC will put down 15 more whp and 30-40 more wtrq that a stage 2 SC. Forget about a tuned TC, I can beat C5 corvettes from a roll a day long. maybe you are a much better driver than the TC owner, or maybe he did not use the NLS that makes a big difference.

It will not put down 15 more whp then a Stage 2 SS/SC .... they put down the same wheel horsepower, but the SS/TC usually puts down 250 +/- lb/ft tq vs. 220 +/- lb/ft tq of the SS/SC. The SS/SC has much more agressive gearing with its 4.05 ratio vs. the SS/TC's 3.82. Also, we have a 7000 rpm limiter vs. your 6300 rpm limiter. Us SS/SC guys rely on our gearing and rev limit to over power the SS/TC torque advantage.

the gearing is barely more aggressive, you actlike we have a 2.73, puhlease... but yes, the tune installs and supporting sc stage 2 mods will cost more than 1000 dollars,

but you should tally up the total on knuckles, wheels, brakes, axles, TCS, ESC, Phone and USB connectivity. the complete package is way more for your money than the SC was.

from my understanding in terms of straight line acceleration
Stage 2 sc = Stock TC
Tuned TC > full bulton stock blower SC
