PIED "Passenger Induced Engine Dysfunction"
PIED "Passenger Induced Engine Dysfunction"
I am paranoid: Each and every time a friend gets in my car, I obviously want to show him how my basically stock SS/TC hauls asses, because it does... when I'm alone in it. I always end up disappointed thinking "How come my car feels that sluggish with only 170 more pounds in it ?"
Did anyone else here experienced the PIED phenomenon? If so, let's start a group so we can all support each other.
Just wanted to share this
(Trifecta treatment on the way

everytime I show someone what my cobalt SS can do, I take em from a 30-40 MPH roll in 2nd gear all the way to redline , NLS into 3rd then let off.
My one friend a few days ago said "Dude, my head snapped back and hit the seat pretty hard, I had no idea this thing was that fast!"
I just smiled and said "Yeah, its pretty quick"

I remeber taking my dad for a spin when I first got the car who is no stranger to quick cars (owns an Audi A6 with the 2.7 Twin Turbo motor) and when I put my fut down he was reaching for the oh **** handles
When my brother or father (200lbs each) are in the car ...my car won't do 2nd gear rolling burnouts hardly at all ..... when i'm alone it does them when ever i want. Sucks i was telling them about it... then go to show em and it hardly does it.
Yah doesnt it suck how that happens.... No matter what, you always adjust to what you have, so then you need more! lol its a never ending cycle.

Yep it's just like this old saying......
"You show me the hottest women in the world..........And I'll show you one guy that's sick of banging her"
.....we are never happy.
It's probably in your head. Cars always feel slower from the driver's seat because you're the one making the control inputs, so you expect and are underwhelmed by everything that happens. I've found this happens more when you're trying to show off, since you're even MORE focused on how fast your car feels.
When I was younger I always found it funny that my friend's 2003 Grand Am GT felt quicker than my dad's 2005 Altima 3.5SE, despite the fact that my dad's car annihilated his from any speed.
So like I said, it's in your head.
