poking thru SRTforums
blah blah blah... The Cobalt clearly was not made for drag racing. So 1/4 mile times don't mean much. The cobalt was made to be a well handling vehicle suited for time attack type driving. It is a very responsive car coming out of turns and has great acceleration from the turn speed to straight-away speed. As shown when it bested the legendary Nissan Skyline's times by seven seconds in Street Tuner Challenge's Time Attack (Of course it was modded but so were all the other cars including the 600HP skyline that was there). The SRT-4 was not made for this kind of driving in my opinion, it was made to be a concrete eating monster without much finesse...More muscle. I don't think it is fair to say which is better because they are both better at what they were designed to do. The Cobalt was designed on the Nurburgring while the SRT-4 was probably designed on a straight strip of asphalt. The times I have seen for drag strips have all been in favor of the SRT, while courses have been in favor of the Cobalt. Apples and Oranges...
I agree...I think AWD would have been a much bigger deal with the SRT4 than with the Cobalt. The FWD of the Cobalt actually makes it quicker through the types of driving it was made for, which is accelerating quickly while already in roll.
stock srt 4 vs 2006 ss/sc with cold air, gmpp exhaust, gmpp honed manifold. We will let you know as soon as it happens, according to a reliable source, late november we should see one. Hopefully there is no snow on the ground
I have the utmost respect for the SRT4.....it is a great and powerful American made car. As far as records and victories go check out these links (too much information to convert and post).

ACR is the same as the Cobalt's G85 package.
Sooo hmmm stop being ignorant.
All V8 performance vehicles???
lol
GM really designed the Cobalt to be a roll racer??
When will you guys stop bringing up the Time Attack Cobalt???
Especially those that are clueless.
First off, it DID NOT beat a 600hp Skyline. It beat a bone stock skyline.
Secondly, it cheated to win that redline event.
Third, it was only car in the street tuner challenge with relocated suspension.
Has it done anything since??
Sooo hmmm stop being ignorant.

first of all your a troll, your bashing the cobalt on a cobalt website /shutthefuckup
and to answer your question, no they didnt design to the cobalt to be a roll racer, or are you too ******* retarded to understand they designed the cobalt to be a road coarse car built for quick acceleration out of corners and a little get up on the straights, they didnt design the car to drag race.
on the other hand the srt-4 as i have heard wasnt designed on a road coarse. it was designed on pavement. can you say drag race?
please now will u stop bickering about nonsense, their both good cars get over yourself

Also; Maybe you should watch the television special where they actually talked to the driver of the skyline and showed it...
Also; Was it designed to be a drag racer?
Also; We bring up the time attack cobalt because it is a great example of what a few mods can do to the car.It wasn't even at 300HP until they added the shot of nitrous. If you ask me that is pretty amazing...
Also; It cheated? you were there then huh?
Also; OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! relocated suspension!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!! it's like a rally car!!! OMG!!!
I was trying to make a point that neither car is better and are proficient in their own areas of design. You feel the need to feel superior by cutting up people's comments without any factual backing. If you were educated and knew how to properly argue a position with FACTUAL backing such as a cited source or event, we would give your comments some credence.
Now please re-read my first series of comments and compare them to my second paragraph. I think we could all agree that my second paragraph makes my point without sounding dis-respectful to other's thoughts, opinions, and ideas.
Thank you
PS: I think the SRT4 is an amazing machine
