I am buying a 2009 cobalt in the next few days.
I have driven a couple stock ones and a 21+psi modded one.

My question is, when I was driving the modded one, around 3000rpm it got extremely jumpy. As in 2% more throttle put you in the back of the seat, 2% less slammed your head in the steering wheel. Do all tuned SS's do this? Or was his tune off?

Also, is the stock BBV pretty loud when you have a Modded intake?

The stock ones, and my 2400lbs manual race car, were no where near as jumpy.

 

Sounds like he needed to fix his tune. Mine pushed around 23 psi and it doesn't do that. The stock bpv is much louder with an intake, to the point where it sounds like a vent to atmosphere blow off valve.

 

Sign of a horribly tuned car and/or broken parts. It should be smooth. You shouldn't get that visceral on/off feel that you can get from a really light weight naturally aspirated car.

I am relieved that they all don't do that But glad I know to offer less on it. I only got it to like 4500 rpm due to the packed streets, but it still hit 21psi at 70% throttle.
Also got pulled over by a cop that told me to slow it down, wasn't even going above 30 when he saw me. Guess the loud exhaust and bpv are cop magnets LOL.

 

What kind of race car do you have? 2400 lbs sounds right around a Honda or old VW.

 

Fiero with a 3.8 modified supercharged motor swap, full custom brakes and new suspension. Lots of other stuff. Barely a fiero anymore.

 

i dont think balts are cop magnets. they probably just think "oh its just a cobalt"

I don't know about the cop magnet, mines the 2.4 SS and cops even eyed me driving by.. All I had done to my car is a cheap exhaust from Auto Zone...

 

Mine attracts cops from other counties... but its my own fault... I drive like mario andretti and I have a 3 inch straight exhaust with no muffler, cat, or resonator... mmmm turbo whistles like a ****.
