yeah... so ive been contemplating trading my 05 IRL in on one of these since GM isnt going to be putting the LNF into the Astra and the ION is dead
Does anyone know what they will be asking for the new SS/TC?
i owe $20k on my IRL but thast with a 100,000k warranty, gap insurance, and a maintinence plan.
i should get more on trade in with all of that shouldnt i?
the car was originaly $18.5k then we got the extended warranty, ect.

no, you will not get more trade in. with the new cobalt you will probably get less trade in because less people will want it. and nobody knows what the price will be. i would expect it to be higher than the ss/sc though.
i cant believe you still owe 20k on a 2005 saturn...wow that sucks, how many miles are on it?
have you not made any payments in a couple years or something??
am i confused here or something...my 2005 cobalt has like $6,500 left to pay
I bought the car fully loaded for $18.5k may of 06 pretty much new with 7K on the odo, theres a little (and i do mean little) over 30k on the odo now.
after the 100k warranty, gap insurance, and maintinence plan it came out to $25k out the door, i acctualy owe a little under $20k now. but i dont owe that much on the car itself.
like i said, the initial price of the car was $18.5k so im mainly paying off the extras
if the cobalt is too much ill prolly just swap a GT series turbo onto the LSJ.
i do know how to read
i dont know if you know how to type yet
"i owe $20k on my IRL"
now my turn...
"i owe $6,500 on my Cobalt SS"
would you like to try again?
if what your typing is true, your **** out of luck, cause that trade in on that car today is under $13,000
you might be able to sell it for $14,000 and yes this is priced out loaded, which pretty much just means you have a sunroof
ps i think you got jack with these "extras" you got
the 100k warrenty, thats alright...anything else is a scam
and you paid $25,000 for a 2005 Saturn IRL with 7k mile on it
you got jacked on that too my friend
do you know how to read?

i dont think i got jacked, i bought a late model 2005 RL in early 06 with low miles for $18.5k it was my choice to get the extra stuff... which has come in very handy and saved me alot of money so far.
ok soo you save a lot of money soo far...you owe almost $20,000 on a car that has trade in value of under $13,000, didny you save money there??
i guess u "saved" if car gets totaled and gap insurance comes into play, and thats pretty much the only way you are not going to lose a lot of money on this car
correct?
only time will tell, i hope its under 25k!!

and thats for a 2005 SS/SC in April of 2005, with 10 miles on it...pretty good deal, huh boostedhard
done with this thread, bye ladies!
I owe about 17k on mine and I have 8k miles. Trade in value is 18k, privite is 20k, and retail is 22k. I should make out decent by the time the SS/TC comes out if I don't keep mine. We will see how I run tonight at the track
I agree with you. I got a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC fully loaded with the G85 package. Walked out the door with a 75k/5year ext. warnity and gap insurance for 22k out the door. Also got 0% intrest on the loan

I sold an 05 SS/SC with 17k miles on it, stage 2 for $15k. There were a gang of them on here for sale, and all over the internet at that time, and few if any of them sold higher than $14k let alone $15k.
If you want to trade-in, you will get around $12k.....
In all actuality, its much easier to sell a 4dr cobalt than it is to sell an SS/SC. Not everyone wants an SS/SC, or can afford one. Those that want one are generally 16-early 20yr olds who need a co-signer, have little money, and cannot get it. Therefore the car that falls into the grouping of practical and necessary is the better seller because it meets more demographic criteria (the 4 door).
When i got the car i wasnt planning on getting rid of it for a LOOONG time.
Im still not really planning on it, was just curious about what the new balt was gonna cost.
In all reality ill prolly keep the RL and just swap to turbo...
@ 20psi i could easily make over 100whp more than the SS/TC... 20psi for 240whp is kinda weak. Im prolly making that if not more right now with less than $500 invested into the motor.
im still really biased towards the looks of the Rl over the Balt too.

KBB and NADA value are bullshit on these cars. They never sell for that. Let me know when you see an 06 or 05 with low miles selling for anything over $16k. (look at ebay, look at how many sell for anywhere $18k on here, the market isn't there for these cars) I have a dealers liscense, I can buy 05, and 06 SS/SC's or ION RL's at auction all day long for $11k (or less, no more than $13k) with under 30k on the clock.

But look at all of the SS/SC's on here that are a hard sell. Thats not just my specific area/state. Look at all of them on ebay as well. Most of them never meet reserve, or sell. I know dealers around here that have new ones, and used, and they have been on the lot for months.
The car is a hard sell based on the type of car. Its not a car that appeals to everyone. If you want a fast car most people aren't willing to pay the price of a Cobalt, then stick all the cash into it that it takes to run 11's, etc. There are many more cars out there (fox body mustangs, etc.) that you can make fast for less, and drive daily, etc.
All cobalts at this point are hard to sell used because you can buy a new LS for $10,700 or so....
Here in Nebraska I got $14,500 trade in on my 2005 SS/SC with Stage2 and 12,000 miles.
It took the dealership two months to sell it and they got $14,000 for it. Im so glad they made nothing off my car since they were text book salesmen and tried to **** me any way they could.
And sorry boosthard05 but you got the backdoor treatment on your car. Gap is a waste and the other insurance/warranty is worthless.
And I would really hope the 2008 SS/T is no more than the previous SC model. If it is GM is screwing people. Your getting the same damn car with what $100 more worth the calipers and stupid wheels. There is no way the LNF costs that much more to make than the LSJ.

tell that to my brother who bought a car for 20,000 and one month later totalled the car from a hit and run driver. without gap the insurance would have given my brother 14,000. 6,000 out of pocket, and no car, because you got a hit and run. yea, sounds pretty worthless to me
i gotta agree with it depends on where u live.. cause when my car got totalled i got 22k for it.. and i only paid 21 out the door... there are also ss/sc selling for almost the full sticker price with 25 to 30k miles here... ur best bet if u wanted to trade it in.. is see what cities around u offer the most money.. sure u might have to drive a few hundred miles to sell the car.. but isnt a few hundren miles worth a couple if not more thousand dollars

You owe 20k on a 2 year old car that you bought for about the same price? Sorry dudicles, but it's worth about 12k. Better keep a steady job and just make your payments.
Seriously though, The warranty cannot be transferred to a dealership, so you will have to cash it out and get back what little residual value it has. And GAP does not translate over either, that is a lost cause. Basically you are 8k upside down minus a FEW hundred dollars in remaining warranty value. :,-(
GAP on my GTO is about $1.40 a month. Well worth it. Dealerships over charge you by atleast 100% so they can make money. Same with the Warranty etc. My warranty was $1,300 and I never used it. Cashed it in a year later for only $700. You probably got beat up on the warranty price.
